I'm just bringing this up because I collect strategy guides and wanted to let people know about the discount.
BSG strat guides are usually pretty well written and make for good bathroom read material.
As an advocate of using Wiki's over handing over cash for the info, I DO promote Bethesda game guides purely because they are so well written. I still have the Morrowind and Oblivion Guide in my bathroom. Morrowind alone reads like the narrator from A Bard Tale.
http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Dwellers-Survival-Collectors-Edition/dp/0744016312 off beats GameStop's 20%.
Good catch, just placed my order for it. Here's hoping they ship it super early so I can thumb through it before the game's release.
Fallout 3 as far as I know is the 360 version. In a few months quite a few 360 games will be able to play on the X1 using an emulation mode.
I knew I wasn't the only one that does that.
Man, I remember when Halo first came out on the OG xbox, and how fat that manual in the case was. Damn, tons of reading material right there for bathroom runs.
So what are in these books? Lore and tips or something.
They usually start with an introduction to how things like skills/perks work (will point out the more useful ones). Will have around 10 or so builds shown to suit different play styles. Will have a full index of enemies, weapons and armour.
Will have a breakdown of every quest and different paths that they may follow to complete. Full detailed map showing things like bobbleheads, skillbooks etc. Should have some lore on all the factions and important characters.
I enjoy the guides, think they offer more then just a online wiki.
There are many good reasons not to pre-order,
both individually and for the collective message it sends to the games industry.
But for a Bethesda game, I feel in safe hands.
After a year or so the price will drop far more than it would from a pre-order discount so I don't see the point to it really. If money is a concern just wait til the price drops and if on PC simply wait for a steam sale.
I'm not really taking a stance, simply recognising that too much pre-ordering is problematic.
I agree with your logic that the only way to take a stance is to never pre-order (and have others follow suit).
But I'm weak and there was this Pip Boy available...
For everyone that did miss the Pip-boy roll out https://www.lootcrate.com/fallout4%C2%A0
Me neither to be honest. I get why people take the stance to not pre-order but my reason for not doing it is simple really. I ain't paying more than I have to. A game will go down in price eventually and I have enough games, comics, books, tv-shows and films in my archive of "haven't-done-yet" that I can sustain my itch for entertainment until it does. Pre-ordering means paying more or just the standard price and with games it is always a gamble whether or not it will be good as there are so many variables to account for so I'm just not interested in paying full price for anything any more. I also don't really care for a lot of the bonus stuff that comes along so, yeah. I don't pre-order solely from a financial stand-point whereas a lot of others who take "the stance against pre-orders" do it out of principles.
Well for me, I pre order Bethesda products because they have not let me down since Daggerfall in getting a highly entertaining product. I'm also a big Galactic Civ fan, but I'm going to wait till the Steam sale comes during Xmas to get it Gal Civ III. Same with games from other companies.
But Bethesda has yet to lose my trust in getting a good quality product.
As for a the game guide goes, I'm a svcker for nice hard bound books. My book shelf is full of them, especially history.
meh i got mine off cdkeys its half price on there
I have no intention of pre-ordering FO4 because I've been disappointed by Bethesda too many times, but I do pre-order games when I feel confident enough in the game; I voted for McCain and Romney in the two elections since I've been old enough to vote. Your argument is invalid.
