Finally! FO 4!

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 2:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I've played this series since Fallout 3.......Never knew about this company back when Red Baron 3d was out! LOLZ

Anyway, Someone mentioned that the VATS system should have been done away with.

I'm thinking "Why would you do that and What would replace it?....regular point and aim?"

I don't know the rationale behind some people.

I'm glad Fallout 4 will be out.

Bethesda.....You and Rockstar games are the only companies that put out quality games!

These other companies are terrible.

Thanks,

Stef

The ONLY other company that makes solid games is the company that made Witcher 2 & 3.

No other companies exist that make a more mature game.....NOT GTA V by the way as I despise that series.

What other companies are there that can compare on the scale that Bethesda and Rockstar make their games?

I'm all ears man.

When it comes to the depth of the gameplay and of the immersion, etc....there are very few companies that do it right and fully.

Bethesda puts in enormous amounts of time in their titles.........Rockstar does also: Play L.A. Noire and see.

These other companies that exist now put out Anime-type games or Shooters or other stupid genre that is for kiddies not a more mature player.

Who is out there that currently is producing massively rich titles like Bethesda or Rockstar?

EA games with Dead Space 1? Nope......They're dormant for all purposes.

Maybe Warner Brothers with the LOTR release or the Dying Light release? Nope

Like I said by being explicit, there are no game companies outside of the 3 I mentioned that put out games for a more mature player base.

Give me some titles and we'll see.

Bethesda, and Valve only. Bethesda, and Valve have games most people love. Still waiting for Half-Life 3 too... :whistling:

Obsidian Entertainment, InXile, Telltale Games, http://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Harebrained%20Schemes&snr=1_5_9__408 , Klei Entertainment, Dennaton Games, Edmind McMillen, Vlambeer, DoubleBear Productions.

I think these studios put out damn fine quality games.

I can't think of a single triple-a developer who puts out what I'd consider "quality games".

Maybe you should explore the indie-scene and non-triple-A market if you think that there are only 3 development studios that put out quality games?

VATS is the ONLY thing that saved combat (and the game) for me, as I prefer tactical, turn-based combat in my Western RPGs (like Fallout 1). Of course VATS doesn't make it strictly turn-based, but it does give the illusion of it. It also allows me to build my character to maximize his ability in VATS combat.

When I play I never attack in real time. Only using VATS. If my character doesn't have enough AP then he needs to

You are nuts to be thinking that.
How about Square and Enix before they became Square-Enix who spawned hit after hit?
Pre-2012 Konami.
How about Irrational Games who made the amazing Freedom Force games (the second one was just Flawless), and later moved on to make the Bioshock series?
Heck even Yacht Club games who've only released one major title but it's Gold.

Right now I'm trying to replay New Vegas but the damn thing has crashed like ten times that I HAVE to reinstall without the DLCs.

Good ones. Though I have an issue with FromSoftware as they butchered the Tenchu series.

This is very close to my opinion too. I like VATS because it moves the games away from being mere first-person shooters and closer to being roleplaying games. Character skill matters in VATS, not player skill. And character skill is what roleplaying games should be about, in my opinion.

OOHHHH that guy.

One of those devs who does nothing but shamelessly plagiarize Newgrounds flash games from the early 2000's.

Looking up the other devs it seems most of them are in that same buisness, excpet Enterbrain.... which makes japanese dating sim games?

Oh, sorry, I meant: http://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Harebrained%20Schemes&snr=1_5_9__408

My point is that I've found a lot of studios that have put out games I really enjoy, none of them are triple-A.

If someone feels like there is only one or two good studios out there and they list triple-A studios then perhaps it is time for them to explore the indie scene for something else to play.

Why are we all here measuring up our di.....eh i mean developers, their are game developers for every kind of player, from casual to hardcoe gamers. I play plenty of game, and while i admit to being a fan of some series and designers i apreciate othere developers for original designs or bringing back some nice old time features. I love RPG's, so games like Wasteland 2. I also like Dead State, mosly due to the turn based combat. Add X-com (the latest one) to it and maybe a shooter or sports game here and there ( Fifa, NBA 2k, Battlefield, Arma 3) and you can sum me up to playing almost anny genre that is generaly well represented. This does not make the developer of those games any better or worse then the other, cause despite not liking say Dark Souls, i do agree that they made a great game. Same for WoW, it isnt around still for nothing.

But lets get back on topic and stop the developer war of who's the best. The OP clearly just feels excited about FO4 comming out, so lets discuss that in this topic. :D

PS: i agree with the above, there are many good indie developers out there, not just AAA developers deserve best of the world praise.

He did that? Wasn't he the designer of those games in the first place? I was never active in the NG community so I wouldn't know.
Also as far as I know he never coded. Only did art and design and always did collabs with programmers.

Oh man. Why did I forget Hairbrained? The Dragonfall one was amazing.

He was about as much of the creator as the creator of Angry Birds was of the "shoot things out of a slingshot to knock stuff down" game.
