Given how I can max out most games that "recommend" an i5 or quadcore on my overclocked dual core, I wonder now: Was that not because those were mostly console ports and thus just rule of thumb specs? Will TW2 run worse now, being a PC-only title? :unsure2:

Think my E520 can handle this on high? Or do I have to scale it to medium? Man . . . need a new computer.

Wonder what the recommended processor speed is on this. Either way, seems to be getting to be about time to upgrade ye olde Q9650. And also possibly my motherboard. ...If only I had money.

My video card still says OM NOM NOM to your silly graphics requirements, at least.

I'm more interested in finding the requirements for their other game, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_Ju8WVY2a4 :ninja:

But its good to see my current rig will still be able to run this game. Is there any mention if the Witcher 2 will make use of DX11 features?

You mean E5200? I doubt it will run it on high, that's a pretty old processor.

Bleh, at least I pass the min. specs. Didn't know this game was going to be that intensive. Going to need to buy a new computer as soon as I gain some monies, asap.

Lol. I mean my http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Dimension-Desktop-Processor-1-86GHz/dp/B0013ENCCA. It was meant as a joke. This thing struggles with wow on very low settings if I enter certain areas.

Looks like I should be fine, my video card is on the low end (8800gtx) but still should run it just fine.

I am going to buy the first one whenever I see it in stores somewhere :P Oh, and about the specs for the game: with http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html my computer runs way smoother than ever before, just mentioning it since it might be useful to someone else...

Well I guess I won't be buying it. 2.2ghz? I only know of a handful of games that actually utilize that much processing power. Usually games with some really intense AI on a large scale and I don't think The Witcher 2 is going to be that kind of game. So I have to wonder why it would have such an extreme minimum requirement?

Are you implying 2.2ghz is too high? That's extremely low for a dual core processor.

Too high for me. I have a Core2 Duo E6300. It's 1.8ghz. And 99 percent of games run just fine because I have a kickass video card. The only games I have that really stress my processor are X3 Terran Conflict and Dwarf Fortress and with a few tweaks Dwarf Fortress runs perfectly.

More to the point, I'm really just curious why TW2 uses so much processing power in the first place? 2.2ghz for a dual core processor is nothing to snuff at, even though there are many far superior processors out there. You have to go out of your way to make a game use that many CPU cycles.

It's a PC exclusive made in 2011, that's why. The CPU is not just used for AI and physics.

Preemptive warning to all, I'm expecting a buggy first release with quick post launch patches like they did with the first game. Hopefully there's none at all, but I know better than that.

Too high for me. I have a Core2 Duo E6300.

Get a nice cooler for that and you can easily overclock it to 3GHz. I've never been into overclocking, and that's the only thing I ever did. But it works just perfectly. ^_^

I'm not a programmer, but even jumping from a Core2Duo @ 2.8ghz to a i5 2500k @ 3.30ghz has made my games run much better. Why would it allow me to run higher graphics settings if all it did was AI/physics?

I assume it helps with streaming large textures, draw distance, water effects, and/or shadows.
