I find it funny how release dates are always moved!

Post » Mon Feb 21, 2011 11:48 pm

My guess is they took an algorithm based on how long the game could possibly be delayed and added onto it ahead of time.

Seriously though? No, they've waited a long time tight lipped about this game and for them to come with such a strong stream of info and a firm release date, I'm sure they're confident in reaching it. And I am too.

Surprisingly, I dont think ES:5 will be delayed. Time will tell.

Don't know why, but it seems very unlikely. Maybe because of the absolute certainty they presented that date? Maybe because it's been in production so long? I don't know, but it seems very unlikely.

If they knew that they couldn't make the date, for some reason I think would have chosen a different date other the easy to remember 11,11,11.

I don't think it will be delayed. Bethesda said back in August of 2010 that when they announced their next game (TESV), it would have already been in development for two years and would come out shortly after. I think Bethesda is almost done with the game, and that year they're giving themselves is for extra polish.

12.12.12 then.

Probably would be 1.2.12. :P

most game are announced 2-3 years before release this one was announced 11 months before release therefore they have a better idea of where they are in development

What if it is moved to 2012, also i seen games over period of times moved like brink was suppose to come out last year and now it's in march. Gears of war 3 was suppose to come out in April now its September. Batman arkham city supposedly to come out in October. I just wonder if they move the date for skyrim to 2012 they say that it's suppose to be 11.11.11 but really its funny because most games are moved up a couple of months or a year later.

It won't be. They wouldn't have announced a release date a year in advance if they weren't confident that they had plenty of time to finish the game. They were most likely done with the game or close to it when they announced the release date. This last year is just fine tuning the game and polishing it.

Be grateful it's not Blizzard we're talking about  , otherwise we'd get a perpetual "it's done when it's done". I'd actually like to get it 2 months later in mid-January 2012.

Pure speculation and I highly doubt that. You don't sit on a finished game and bug test for almost a year. I'm sure much work is left besides bug testing.

I have a feeling that the game is for the most part finished. With a game of this caliber, I'm sure they don't want to waste anymore time/money than they absolutely have to. Hopefully they've already worked out most of the bugs and are completely confident that it will release on time. I foresee a HUGE marketing campaign all based around the 11.11.11 theme and are going to do everything they can to ensure no date slipping.

I might be wrong.

Release is 11.11.11. And doomsday is 12.12.12 not 12.21.12

Perhaps Bethesda won't make the November 11 release date but I think if they're willing to announce a specific date at this point it's because they are very confident that they'll make it. If they were unsure we would have gotten a Fall 2011 release date when the game was announced.

Indeed. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4707/111111yn.jpg :P

I think Skyrim will use the Date 11.11.11 in some form. 111,111 Nords or something. Or 111,111 Dragons will be unleashed, unless you kill the 25 lord dragons or whatever.

@Dragonborn1 No... The End of the Mayan Calendar is 12/21/12. Not 12/12/12. Look it up. That's what the crazy people think is day of Armageddon. Bunch of crap. The guy probably got tired of chiseling in the stone.

Ok, aside from Mayan prophecy of when the world will end... Haha

This is the one game I hope will be released on time. However, I do believe this game will have game of the year easily if they can put out an epic game that is fully polished. As much as it would pain me to wait, I could wait a little longer for it. I don't want a game with so much potential to have game breaking bugs like Fallout New Vegas. I'm extremely excited about this game and am so anxious to play it, so I really hope the 11.11.11 is concrete.

Seeing as this is the shortest time between announcement and release, I figure they are already so far along, most of what's left is polishing. And if they realize they need an extra month or so, they will just have everyone cram on overtime, which is fairly common in the computer/video game world.

The release date is pretty specific, normally they are announced as something like "4th quarter of 2011" or "Autumn 2011". Therefore I am pretty sure the release date will be met, however, if it gets put back a couple of months to iron out any problems that could be found I will be good with that as well.
Pretty much sums it up :)

YOU JINKED US ALL. I hope they stick with release date. Having the game come out on a friday makes for a good weekend. Of course that will be a weekend where I'll have to work saturday.
