Find the Guy in the Thievies Guild in Lamdale!

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 7:36 am

So I got Daggerfall up and started a thief-type character with magic abilities, my standard, and joined up with the Thief Guild as usual. It all goes swimmingly into the Quest Giver goes 'Hey! Ami Mako! I need you to deliver this weapon to Hardtopronoucia in Lamdale who's waiting in the Thief Guild there. I'm like 'Sure, no prob, beats being a Thief Accountant like Frank over there'.

So I fast travel to Lamdale to find Hardtopronoucia in the Thief Guild and bring up the map and look around. There is no Thief Guild. Asking around points to Hardtopronoucia's house so I decide to check there. ...Great...it's locked. So I save a game and break the door down only to find the house empty except for a Magically sealed door.

WAIIII!?

What is going on?

Sounds like you either got the wrong house, or the short end of the quest stick. I'd reload and try again.

Hardtopronoucia

This is great. :)

You are probably in the wrong town. Hardtopronoucia may have been spelled incorrectly.

Why didn't you kick in the magically held lock? Also, sometimes houses will unlock at different times of the day so you can wait around and try later.

I actually found a way to complete it.

Giving up, I went back to Midbury to beat up the quest giver when I thought 'Hey...Maybe I can join the Mage's Guild and...you know...do Mage Guild things like egg the Fighter's Guild!'. I go to the Mage's Guild to find the door locked as well. Good way to recruit people, Mage's Guild! I take my sword and bash it down when the guards came at me and arrested me. I manage to lie that I was not breaking down the door but rather, trying to swat butterflies that they obviously didn't see and the jury found me not guilty. However, the guards beat me up and I had 1 HP so I rushed to the nearest tavern 'The Adverb Noun' and asked for a day's rest. While there, I was suddenly attacked by some fool who wanted my katana who I was supposed to deliver to Hardtopronoucia back in Lamdale. Being the bad-assed Specialist I was, I knock this fool down and left the inn. I decided, hey...maybe if I beat this guy, I can enter the house now. I decided to give it a shot and returned to Lamdale. I bash in the door and check the magic door.

It opened...

I go up the ladder to find Hardtopronoucia busy playing her Magicka Powered DS and says 'Oh...what took you so long?'

I made a save and killed her in rage that could only be matched by the Hulk playing F-Zero GX.

So, I left her house when the guards came in, shouting 'HALT HALT HALT!' but I slipped past them and then followed me outside. I jump on my horse and leave Lamdale to do another quest fro the Thief Guild which consists of going to Deerbridge Hollow and stealing a talisman.

Now the odd thing is...I am currently hated in Daggerfall...but now everyone wants to be my best friend. What in the world?

LOL!! Anyway, if your regional reputation is low you can get arrested for Criminal Conspiracy. In Daggerfall, this is basically the guards saying "Ok, your a criminal and in our town so before you commit whatever crime you plan to we are going to arrest you. The regional reputation system was a great idea but it needed a little more work." Also, I would go find a TG in a region that isn't Daggerfall, Wayrest,, or Sentinel since you spend a lot of time in those regions for the MQ and do you want to be arrested for visiting their rulers? Those three regions are actually the absolute worst place to have a bad legal reputation.

So far in playing Daggerfall, I have yet to actually jump the border. I think after I complete this quest, I'll border jump to the north.

You can be hated by the law but loved by other people. It's only your rep with the law that the info pop-up looks at. Also, I think there is an issue with the legal rep counter going so negative that it flips over to being good.

First off, TC, your style is hilarious, and I hope you'll post more reports :)

Why didn't you kick in the magically held lock?

You can't bash magical locks.
Also, sometimes houses will unlock at different times of the day so you can wait around and try later.

This is more likely what his problem was. Sometimes leaving the town and reentering will reset the lock to something else (or no lock at all)

Of course, sometimes the door is always under a magic lock that you just can't open. It's all luck of the draw.
