I Find This Disturbing

Post » Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:00 am

So I build my home at Winstad Manor in Morthal. Upon completing it I venture outside and scope out the area. Within a stone's throw theres High Gate Ruins, resting place of Dragon Priest Vokun. I mean I don't have kids but if i did, that's kinda freaky. Of course if I have kids why raise them in the swamps of Morthal anyway.

My opinion is that Winstad is the "safest" of the houses. It is actually safe from inhabitants the ruins, and the only thing one has to worry about is the witches and bandits from Ustengrav that re-spawn. But then again, I love the swamps for the extra ingredients.

Do your characters have one of those satchels that are scattered about the game for ingredient collecting? LOL

If you do the Mages's quests, another anomaly problem can happen in your yard.

Weeell, there are 3 in the greenhouse, three next to the alchemy table and one on the enchanters table. That is enough for this gal. :D

I know what it is, but never had it happen there. lol

Let's face it: every house in the game is located close to something that's either dangerous or disturbing. Vlindrel Hall is located right above the scene of a grisly murder and a mere stone's throw (or should I say, mace) away from Molag Bal. And, most alarming of all, Proudspire Manor is located down the street from Elisif. :shocking:

Uthred was a long - term Lord of Winstad. It was his "home", if you know what I mean. We had some of the happiest times there, but it in ended in tragedy. Needless to say, it was random - generated attacks rather than geographical dangers. I find these events irritating: I just want to live in a place where I don't have to kill things constantly. And your followers, and close relations your character makes, are then slaughtered before you know whats really happened. I mean, yes, its immersive to a point. But it should be a rare thing, rather than fairly regular. I think if you build outside of the city walls, yes, it is going to be dangerous. If you want to move your loved ones and prized followers there, than you have to anticipate deaths.

I often regretted Oblivion never had any vanilla rural houses, but that's another story ;).

I consider living on the second most expensive road in the empire (Maybe fourth...fifth...but its still prestigious!) to be quite a snobby thing to do, naturally, I love swanning around in my fur silks, cursing at the wretched masses, and enjoying banquets at the blue palace ;). Actually, Uthred liked the feasting, but was annoyed because you cant go around drunk in that sort of neighbourhood, or race your horse up the streets charging down rabbits.
