Finding base id's in-game...

Post » Mon Jul 07, 2014 2:21 am

Is there a way to get the console to print an in-game item's base id using a command? I believe in Skyrim typing "Help" followed by a word or string would list objects/spells/etc. that included the word(s), but, that doesn't seem to work for objects in New Vegas.

I want to add some armor added by a third-party mod directly into my character's inventory, but I'm not having much luck tracking down its id. Any help would be appreciated.

The only way I know of requires Fallout Script Extender Installed. You'll also need to find the item on an NPC and drop it down in front of you.

The console command is ref.GetBaseObject

This might not help you since you're having a hard time finding the item in-game anyways.

Well, I know what the item is "called" so, this should help... how is that command used exactly? Just clicking on an object reveals it's reference, so, I'm hoping that command can be used with a name.
