Finding dead enemies in grass

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:31 am

I could really do with a mod that makes it easier to find dead enemies without having to go to options and lower my grass down.

Any mods tackled this problem yet?

Use console command tg, it toggles grass display off, and should make enemies easy to spot. There's also tt that does the same for trees, not sure if there's one for bushes.

LAME has a detect corpse spell.

A spell? Sounds a bit awkward, I was thinking along the lines of all corpses are detectable for a number of seconds after death, so no need to keep switching spells or anything.

Short grass mod?

I would recommend the one they have at OblivionModGods (it′s a website, just google it), they have poly-reduced versions to finetune the performance/quality balance as well. :)

Honestly, a quick toggle grass off, then on is probably easier than installing a mod to detect a corpse. It's not that frequent that you lose someone into the grass that you may want to find to loot. :)

There's a great mod called Finders Keepers. Has spells for Detect Corpse, Detect Arrows, Detect Magical Item, Detect Weapon, Detect Jewelry and a whole bunch of others. Detects items in containers as well as loose on the ground.

Useful for finding special items, lost corpses or for items that disappear into walls due to misbehaving collision (though if they fall through the floor they're usually too far down to detect).

That is a nice find. *goes off to get it*

Edit: ...tired of losing weapons my companions drop during battle...

For me losing stuff in the grass is part of the immersive experience that is modded Oblivion.

And using spells to get around "immersive experience"s is one of the benefits of a fantasy based game :)

I am not losing it, my companions drop the stuff...:( Plus, if we are talking about "realism", I think my PC would be able to find one of my favorite swords in the grass after the battle...

If I dropped a Meteoric Iron Weapon in the grass, you can bet I'd be torching some foliage until I found it.

How did you know those are my favorite swords? :P

Losing stuff in the grass is one thing, but when the items clip through the ground it's much worse. I once lost my favourite enchanted Daedric Dagger - "A Song of Ice and Fire" - and had to TCL to recover if from underneath the ground.

It stinks if you give up on finding the thing without thinking about using TCL...not until your half way into the next world... It is terrible when your companion drops them in the Oblivion Realm towers where you are running through all kinds of doors and hallways and levels...not to mention all the staff and sword-wielding FCOM-buffed Daedra Dremora crawling about...forgot to mention the Lesser Balrogs...
