Finding Inactive Settlers

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 12:21 am

Has anyone come up with a way to track settlers who do not have a job in settlements? It is hard for me to find them sometimes. I run around, mostly looking for people just sitting around.

Also, in regard to settlers, has anyone tried to outfit them with things? I gave my guard a brotherhood scribe outfit, and it tickled me silly. I didn't realize I could put weapons and armor on settlers for a long time. Can you give them all power armor and have a tiny army of power armored peasants?

idk how much sense it makes to outfit the settlers in big settlements, because the turrets would make the whole work. Could be interesting for the smaller settlements (2-3 ppl). Did not tried to put settlers in power armor, but it works for your followers (command -> point -> enter power armor)

I havent saved up enuf of 1 type of outfit but have tried to do this sometimes like all my farmers with same gear, but yeah they really need some kind of settler management window, hate running around looking for somone not having a job.

Dressing your followers is how you keep track of them. Give settlers with jobs a hat so you know at a glance who needs a job.

Then, once you assign them, give them a piece of custom armor that you've named after their job - eg Farmer 1, South Guard, etc. Then all you need to do is trade with them to see what you've got them doing.

Btw, I use a second armor piece to give them names - soon enough, I recognise Bob by sight and know that he grows Tatos.

Edit: Oh, and build a bell - when you ring it, all settlers gather around it. Saves you tracking them down one by one.

That hat thing is ingenious. Cool roleplay too, even if I think a management option would be cool. Gives me ideas. I am probably going to put my guardsman with combat gear. I just like the idea of it, even if turrets > people.

Turrets arent better, you can have one guard assaigned to at least 3 different posts. They will patrol between them

Update: So what i've been doing is I put combat armor on all of my guards in Sanctuary. I gave all my farmers farmer clothes (I got the clothes from a tier 3 clothes shop in my town). I gave my shop owners fancy clothes, dresses etc. So now I can spot new guys easy!
