finding a lost follower

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:12 am

Looking for some advice to find a lost follower. I had Marcurio from Riften for about an hour and we went to kill a dragon. The dragon fell off the side of a mountain after we had killed it. I decided to try and get to the dragon from above instead of trying to find a way up. I didnt notice he hadnt followed me until much later (and a new save).

This has happened before where a follower will not follow me all that great and get behind, but they always catch up, sometimes at a city load. Marcurio has yet to show up and its been game days. I've tried to get a new follower but they tell me I already have one. I went back atop the mountain we killed the dragon and he wasn't there either. I was hoping he was stuck or something.

Any hints for this or is there a console command (and how to do this) to remove him as my follower?

If you own the house in Whiterun she will go there instead of Dragonsreach. There are glitches where followers get stuck somewhere and never come back. If you fast travel to a location and they don't show up then they are either glitched or dead. If you can't pick up another follower that would probably indicate they are glitched.

Two ways that I know of. First is to console magic your missing follower towards you:
Open up the console and type in:
prid B9986
moveto player
This will place Marcurio at your feet. (Tip: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2849 bat files can simply this process)

If you just want to recruit a new follower and don't care about your old one. Type this in the console:
Set playerfollowercount to 0
This will enable you to recruit a new follower which will automatically fire your old one.

I recover my followers by Fast Traveling. If they do not show up, I load an earlier save, if I want them around.

They should return to home base after 72 hours (which can take several hours to do) and the game will give you a message that they returned home. If after that time, they do not show up, I tend to reload so the game does not think I have a follower that I don't have.

"player.moveto (id)" will move you to where he is " player.placeatme (id)" will move him to you. Also don't trust id numbers you find online in places such as wiki because I have found they aren't always right. to find the correct id for your lost soul go to console and type "help marcurio" and that will give you his id.....of course remove quotes

Also don't trust id numbers you find online in places such as wiki because I have found they aren't always right.

Reason for that is the game can assign a randomly generated ID number to any object, even a common one, while it is being used in the game. You use the console to look that up, but you are not looking at the base ID, but the relative ID for this instance.
