So this is a place you come upon in the main quest line, but I forgot "something" in the very last room before I come back up to the surface on the elevator thing. I really need to go back and get that something, but I don't want to go through the whole place from the start again, but I can't seem to find the Tower of Mzark as its own place on the map. Does anyone know how I could get there?

Hm I realize this isn't a help for you now, but down in the underground city place.. there are a few elevators that lead up to the surface with their own fast-travel points on the map. You have to take them to the surface and open them though so sorry :/. I too forgot the cube thing so I had to run all the way through the darned dungeon again

It's south of Dawnstar, roughly that area

Thanks guys but by the Nine I'm still having trouble finding the place. Know of any other nearby landmarks or anything that might give me a better idea of where it is? I seem to recall it being on one of the mountainish hills in that area, but I can't be sure...

Anyone else have any help to offer?

The lift bit your looking for is at the top of the ice, not far from the main entrance. You realize you need to have opened the door from the other side right? If you have done that, then this should have been a location on your map...

Thanks for your attempt to help but that isn't the place I'm looking for. I'm looking for the last exit out of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Alftand, where the last area - where you take the lift topside - is called the Tower of Mzark. Back on the surface, I did open the gate from the inside, yes, but the location isn't on my map. Whether the game glitched with that or something... I don't know. Regardless, it's not there.
