It's fine...

The game has problems yes, but it is playable long enough to complete the DLC. I recently got it for Christmas, and I have to say the game is rather enjoyable. I finished all the DLC with a minimum of five crashes. The crashes start getting bad at around ten megabytes, but it is still playable. If you are a PS3 user in need of Fallout 3: GotY, but you don't want the hassle later on in the game - RENT IT. The game is fine when your save is below ten megabytes, and trust me, you can complete ALL of the DLC by then. There is a small FPS drop every once in a while, but it's nothing different from the vanilla copy. Once you finish it and return it from wherever you rented it from, delete all trace of it from your system. If you keep the game data, it will cause the vanilla to be very laggy in the menus, I'm not sure about the game because I didn't make it that far. I was worried too when I read all these posts about the GotY, but I started to see that most of them are exaggerations.

Cool, can I come over to your house and play it then? Because my DLC crashes (not freezes... CRASHES) my PS3 every 5 minutes in Point Lookout. My save file is 7MB. Why would I bother to come on this board and exaggerate problems instead of just playing the game?

It's not fine.

Did you complete Broken Steel before you started all the other DLC?

It is not fine.. I am at like 6.5 MB and mine freezes all the time in point lookout and I barely made it through the mothership.

No. Why would that make a difference?

Broken Steel is the first dlc I'm playing on the GotY disc and I just got my second freeze on the BS DLC. My save file is 6.9mb, lvl 20.

Regular play through, 2 freezes and a boot to the XMB.

As long as you finish all the other 4 DLC before reaching a big save file. I actually did all the 4 DLC before actually begining the main quests. Broken Steel is a bit buggy, lag, frame drop but that's because the map there is HUGE...so you should be fine though. After finish Broken Steel, i find there's not much to do in the game anyways..there are lots of irrelevant places in the world map...but dunno if it's worth checking them out..

I don't know whether you work for Bethesda or whether you are just a troll.

I got 16 hours in and the game was *literally* unplayable. Crashed as soon as I left Megaton, no matter where I went.

This kind of shoddy workmanship should never be excused, under *any* circumstances.
