Finish Him! Or not...

None of those,
They are not brutal enough.
I want people getting stabbed in the head and watching the blood come squirting out..
Or
I want someone to get their throat cut and watch the blood come out..lol
We need More Blood and Violence!

I'd love to see the face of the medic when they see that..... "Whoa that's just... no thanks. Hey Team anyone need a medic!" :bolt:

Dead is dead. Nothing can make them more dead so I see no purpose.

Guys, I'm seeing a pretty strange contradiction here... Boy, is this world weird!

Yeah, disagreements happen. Either the thought of such display is too impressing to ignore, or its drawbacks haven't been explained well enough. I'm still under the impression that those who want "finishing moves" or "quick assassinations" don't comprehend the implications. It's a valid idea, but would not mesh well with the playing style of Brink.

It sounds more like some feature to give the game buzz. Every game has some "action" that everyone wants to show their friends for the first and last time. I say just let them make a new light character and try some parkour. If it isn't that then stop buying games to merely breeze through them and move on. Actually stick with a game and features such as this do grow tiring.

They are not brutal enough...

I recommend you play Left 4 Dead 2. It enjoyably has those things, especially when using melee weapons.

I don't really think it would fit in with the aesthetic of the game. This isn't one of those games like GoW pretending to be realistic and gritty by over the top violence and bland colors. It's an over-detailed cartoonishly exaggerated shooter.

Very well put.

OT: I think a little blood would work... you know cause I mean if you get shot you'll probably bleed.
No OT violence. If you want OT violence, grab a chainsaw and break into a school so I can torture you guilt-freely afterwards. Otherwise I might think about your personality as I scraqe the last of your peeled skin into a tray for the next victim to wear.
I'd like to just be able to press a use button over their body to knife or shoot them automatically. No animations needed apart from aim down, pull trigger. Autoshoot rather than having to aim at them manually.

I'm fine without the execution feature in this though. It works in Prototype, but not here.

So I guess its just easier to pop them full of a few more rounds that an execution type move.

a melee attack should be instant kill if your on the ground, grenades too. Why have a whole cinematic? If you want to go and tea bag them go ahead, just make sure they arent just playing dead and knife you in the ass. No excess gore, just usual small blood spray.

Gibbing in Brink would put me off it, I must say.

Not to mention gibbing creates animation and texture work which may delay the release of the game.

That's because regular melee is a knockdown. Being knocked down isn't the same as final stand.

exactly

I think there should be alternate animations for melee when it will kill them or when its from behind like in Halo, nothing to fancy but still cool and increases game depth.
Considering they already have to make different falldown animations for front/back/side melees I dont think it would take too much extra time. Gibbing would absolutely push back the release date or give the devs unhealthy levels of stress and us a half assed game.

Just wondering, but is there a reason not, to finish your enemy?

Yes, you waste time and bullets while shooting him from incapacitated to death. Meanwhile you can be attacked from all sides.

This is why you:

A: Travel in a group so your buddies cover you as you put your enemies out of their misery
B: Pick off strays away from where most of the fighting is going on.

A: Not always possible (Flanking or being the first to break through without little to no support, while trying to secure the new frontline in the wait for your team to join you)
B: Good point.

A: in theory = Right. Probably impractical though. There are 4 classes which are needed together and require different playing styles. It could work though, but not when playing with random strangers.

Doesnt really matter if theres a small sequence to end someone or not. BUT if there is then i think it would be cool to have numerous ones that you can buy with exp like weapons and gear... Most people might not waste points on a "finish him" sequence but some might itd be a neat option.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned taking out a blade and going DECAPITATIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!

Curb stomps work pretty good as well. Of course, most of the time i will interrogate him. It's also fun being a bloodthirsty [censored]. Mmmmm, blood.
