Finished the Pitt DLC

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 6:16 pm

I think I just finished The Pitt and it certainly has an interesting storyline where it presents a tough decision to make. Kidnap or not to kidnap the cure was a good dilemma; problem is that I initially went into it thinking that I would free the slaves, only to find that you can never really seem to actually free them. Plus there are a bunch of the NPCs with no more dialogue, they simply don't say anything anymore after certain points, which kinda makes the DLC feel incomplete/ not finished by BGS. So in the end I kidnapped Marie, not trusting Wernher after-all, I told him to take a hike, returned Marie, exploded the pants off of Ashur after he refused to free the slaves, and sniped all of the no name Pitt raiders. Now my character is left walking all the way back to Megaton at a snails pace with all the gear and all my companions were told to go home when I started. If I had of known that I would have went to Megaton first and unload all my gear.

Bottom line, lots of good gear (love the looks of the Infiltrator gun) and good story line, but no real solution to the moral dilemma that the Pitt presented (at least no solution option that I could really be happy with).

Are there actually more steel ingots to collect/ do they respawn? All I've found were the initial 66.
Whatever happened to Spook? She just up disappears never for your character to see again?

There are 100 steel ingots in total, once you find them all that is it.

I have only found 91 of them. I'm restarting F3 again (save file corrupted) and this time I am promising myslef I WILL find every last ingot.

Hmm. I guess I'll have to go back after I unload my gear in Megaton. I've only found 66 and I thought I did find them all. Not sure where to look for the rest of them (after reading the Wiki for the End Game part of the Pitt... must.. get.. Perferator!)

Yes, absolutely must get Perforator. I've never looked it up, and when I go to the Pitt, I average about 96. Only twice have I found all of them. If you are into fast travel, you can store all your gear in an old engine block near Midea, alley on the left.
It's all about Perforator, Metal Blaster, Raider Commando Armor and the ammo press for me.
Yeah, I actually stopped the game to think about that decision. In the end, I almost always choose to side with Ashur. For one, the conversation with them is more colorful. If you are not into taking bad karma, you can shoot the axes out of the slaves' hands, and let the raiders finish them off. For two, Ashur and Sondra seem better prepared to handle the kid, while Werhner and Midea are operating a back-alley abortion clinic, at least that's what it looks like. And at least Ashur has a future in mind, whether it happens or not. I have to trust him. If you side with the slaves, and wipeout the raiders, the slaves will repopulate the stores, though not at the same hours as the raiders, and yes, it's frustrating waiting for a slave vendor to show up.

If you use FWE, you can get your own ammo press, silenced chinese assault rifle (more damage than regular assault rifle) and raider commando armor without going through the Pitt and collecting Ingots.
The only advantage would be if you wanted the metal blaster, but there are better weapons that come with the FWE.

Yeah there's a few ingots is obscure places. There's a couple I remember that were very difficult to get to, it required you to actually fall off a roof to get to them and i never found any other way to get those.

@Big Daddy - I feel the same way regarding Ashur. Almost all my characters side with him in the end, even some of the "good-guy" characters since they have an open mind and understand his reasoning. Only a couple of my more pious characters have sided with Werhner.

For the first time playing, yeah it was a tough decision. On subsequent times, I realized that I wanted Werhner to have more dialogue options, as well as more of an outcome, that I can see when I visit in the future.

I actually like the metal blaster. Works like the tri-laser rifle with more efficient ammo consumption.
Raider Commando Armor isn't bad, but I actually like the Raider Throwdown Armor more. :D

Actually I prefer not to use fast travel, even with my character at max level. Only time I really use it is if any companions are no where to be found (that got lost somewhere trying to get around terrain), I just go to the nearest fast travel marker manually and then use fast travel to basically wind up in the spot I'm already at.
Well, I found 31 more ingots totaling up to 97. Not sure if I'm gonna bother with the last 3. Got the Perferator and seems to wear out too fast, so I still have to test and see which I like better, Perferator or the specialized Chinese assault rifle you find through the unmarked quest in the Museum of Technology.
Would have been nice to see the slaves be more free if the player goes with Wernher's side.

Yeah, that's the only bad thing about the Peforator, and the Reservist's Rifle, now that I think about it. They degrade rapidly. The Perforator is nice as they can never tell where you are if you fire it sans VATS. It becomes super-sweet after you get the Superior Defender perk (automatically given to you during a quest). In fact, after I get this perk, I tend to use Wild Bill's Sidearm a lot and the Zuhrong Chinese Pistol, as these are crap before the perk.

Ah. Thank you. I'll have to keep that mod in mind. For now I'm still playing through FO3 for my first time and in the process of exploring the wasteland.

Is the Pitt map explorable like the wasteland or are you limited to the small city section? I've already explored the apartments and steel mill, but didn't get access to the Power Plant due to my end game choices with the Pitt DLC.

No, you are limited to the city area. Kind of a shame really, thought that Pittsburgh would be a great city to explore. Yes, if you decide differently, you get access to the Power Plant. That place svcks ------> I don't remember a trog beatdown as much as the one I had the last time I went through there. :cryvaultboy:

There are two entrances to the power plant. Which one you can use depends on your choices in the game.

If there is no bonus content for getting 100 other than for bragging rights, then I'll pass.

Rather than posting a new thread asking more questions, i guess I might as well post them here (not necessarily regarding the Pitt DLC).
1) I'm in the Vault-Tec HQ and got permission to access mainframe from all 3 terminals, but there's still a locked door in the way. Is there a way to unlock it, like a key or remote switch somewhere? If so where?

There is a bug. Sometimes the door does not unlock. Another way is to go down to the first floor and to the room directly under the main frame. Drop all your equipment-get naked-jump onto one of the pipes and than onto the top of one of the computer cases. This will get you close enough to access the main frame. I tried that and than opened the door with the consol command.

In Vault TEC HQ, the second terminal is on the floor BELOW where the Masterbrain patrols.

Yeah, bethesda actualy maid me feel like a bastared no mater which way I took, and I thank them for that, since none of the other quests in the game did this.
I could help the slaves, and get them thier freedom, but potentialy reck the city's future(anarchy, and no one can have a kid untill the cure's developed), and I risk slowing down progres on the cure, or worse, hurting the girl, thus ending the bast chance for not only the pitt, but humanity.
Or, I could help ashur.Order will be maintained, production will continue, and I wont have to abduct, slow, and endanger the cure. But at what cost? The lives of hundreads of slaves? Many of them dont belong there, most were abducted from thier lands, and shiped off ot the pitt to work and die.Can I seal them to this fate?

Those are my choices in game. heres what Im planing on doing.

Personaly, in my RP, Im going to help the slaves, and then in the future, send a team of BOS thier to set up a proper lab, and temporary military government to hep the ex-slaves clear the town, and set up.Eventualy, it will become a colony of the government the BOS sets up in the capital wasteland.(I dont have a gameing pc yet, but when I do, this is the kind of moding I hope to do.Hell, bethesda didnt give us an ending to all this yet, so Ill have to, at least untill the next FO comes out with some answers).

I always side with Ashur, the combination of his badassery and his purpose for committing these attrocities make me really want to help him.

I do not feel the same with Caesar (although I do respect him enough to use the Latin way of pronouncing his name whenever I am talking about him and not the real life Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus) because he's just not the best option for the Mojave (IMO House is).

You do get http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mill_Worker#Rewards for every ten ingots you get. If you want to get horribly anol about getting them all(like me) then the best way is to use http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Steel_ingots#Location off of the wiki and do it in the order specified.
