Finishing moves and its features - can't be turned off

I want an option for my deer to run at a certain pace. I want them to prance instead of sprint.

What kind of selfish persons like not having this option? What is there to like about this?
It's completely egoistic, as it wouldn't affect your game in any way to have an option under gameplay settings or whatever to allow, for some people, very disliked features of this game.

Some of you elder scrolls fan scare the crap out of me, you don't like finishing moves, dismemberment, location damage, moves you can do other then swinging a sword. As a gamer who is interested in gaming more then other hobby's, you scare me., it scares me that a developer might listen to you. You don't want a video game at all, you don't want something you actually play, you just want a stat page that tells you how strong you are.

I don't like forced 3rd person, I'd rather have it an option where it picks a 1st person capable finishing move instead. Not hard to imagine why some are 3rd, given the rather narrow FOV of the game, where some 3rd person animations are simply not transferable to 1st person.

I had to vote 'dislike it'. It's kinda cool for the first hour or two of the game, but after a while it becomes an annoyance. I think FO3 or FONV gave the option to turn the death animations off, so I'm not sure why they thought it was a good idea to not include a toggle this time around.

So you include the poll option and then call people selfish who voted for that answer? Did you exkrct it to have 0 votes?

I did it for the sake of doing it, but I didn't expect to have as many selfish people voting it. Ah well, people on these forums stopped surprise anyway a long time ago.

Your logic couldn't possibly fail more.

For most people this is about being in their chosen perspective of view and not being forced instantly. It's annoying, tedious.
Some people want to have the option because finishing moves could very well become very boring and repetetive after ... 300 hours.

noooooooooooooooooo my eemershuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun

The dissapointment is not about "eemershuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun", it is about being able to play exclusively in our favored perspective like in MW and OB.... ....now impossible in Skyrim.

Nobody is cheering that they didnt make them togglable. I haven't seen one person with the argument "Don't make them switchable! I WANT THEM ON ALL THE TIME!"

They're just saying they don't care either way, and that some of us like them. If you can't see the difference in there, you don't deserve to be taken seriously.

from worst to best....

1..... Slow motion 3rd person finisher (really dislike)

2..... 3rd person finisher (not into it, but can live with it)

3..... 1st person finisher (love it)

I really like first person finishers, but for the other two, it is what it is and I'll get by. Besides, I'm on a console, so I have to. I was thinking of upgrading my computer, which is kind of old (possibly even by console standards) but I know nothing about doing so and it seems like too much of a hassle for someone of my ignorance... unfortunately. It will be fine though.

I neither like nor dislike this feature by default, I have to see how often it occurs in the game. Should I get a finisher for <=10% of the kill blows, with different animations for each weapon/creature combo, it's not that bad.

People have been complaining (bitterly, especially the "how dare anything make me leave first person view" crowd) about finishing moves since they were announced.

Sorry that I like to stay in first person? I would just like to see these moves as if I were actually doing them, not watching someone doing them. They're all ready taking control away from me, so just let me see it on my own terms. That dragon uppercut-axe thing is cool, but I don't want to be watching it from ten yards away.

Awful news.

Looks like i'm going to have to mod them out before I can fully enjoy this game.

A lot of people don't like cheesy, over the top action cinematics.

A lot of people also don't like being thrown into 3rd person constantly when one of main things they love about the series is it's first person gameplay.

Why is this difficult to understand?

I've lost you at "cheesy, over the top..."

And actually, this is like asking if you can turn off Power attack animations...

Those got old in New Vegas real quick, and as soon as i learned that in first person it's really a free dose of turbo i never used another option :hehe: I'll propably end up modding them away here.

I can't really comment on it, sure being force into third-person is annoying but none of us know how often it happens. If it happens rarely then I won't mind.

You can still control power attack animations.

I mean, I don't have a crippling problem with the finishing moves, but it's taking control from your hands. You can't decide when to do them.

This questions my view of the game.
Mainly a first person game? Yeah right. Feels more like mainly a third person game by each news we get, and that first person is just something you can do sometimes freely.

Yes, because "riding horse" and "finishing combat" are a majority of the game time.

On this theory, the fact Oblivion went into third person when you sat down or were paralyzed, and Fallout 3 having those third person VATS sequences, made those games "Third person, with optional first."

Hyperbole ftw.

Hmm... that's optimistic, I expect it to be more like 25-30%. They better have 5-10 different animations for each creature or else it gets old very fast..

Combat and riding on a horse is indeed a MAJOR part of the game's freedom if it means it gets forced to third person. You would often ride a horse when exploring, and that's A LOT of hours you do that in the game. You would also often fight, and every now and then you get forced to third person when doing that.

Give me proof of there being more forced FIRST person and I'll change my mind. Until that, I'll say that this really is more of a third person game than a first person game.

I would like it if some of the finishing moves were in first person. Slitting someones throat would be a great finisher to see in first person.

I just don't see how just a casual swing of the sword is somehow more immersive than a back-stab. I'd have finishing moves on all the time even if it was optional.
