Finishing moves and its features - can't be turned off

Post » Mon Sep 19, 2011 11:38 pm

After many tweets, I finally got my most important question answered by Pete.
"I have to have said numerous times now you cannot turn them off. Sorry, it's a part of the game." (Source: http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/115860739272605696)

This is news to me, bad news; that we can't turn off finishing moves or turn off specific features like forced third person view or slow motion.
I love the finishing move animations, but I truly hate how they sometimes force you into third person view. It ruins the "feel of combat" and makes my game feel more like a blockbuster movie or a Fable game.

In short, I don't like it at all. I dislike it so much, that I won't play the game before it's modded out. Of course I will try the game and its combat before deciding to mod it out, but seeing all we have seen so far, this is my strongly predicted response to it.

Sounds like he's tired of answering that question... BTW- We already knew you couldn't turn the finishing moves off.

Indifferent.

and

Would have to see how often and how annoying they are, before I could say whether I'd want them as they are, less frequent, or not at all. Not having seen them in action, really can't judge.

I didn't knew it and never remember reading about it. Completely new to me, and I've been following info on this as much as I can.
I have feared it but never known it.

So what!

If you don't like the finisher animations then close your eyes when they happen...

Chances are good that I would watch about 3 or 4 finishing moves and then want to turn them off forever.

What kind of selfish persons like not having this option? What is there to like about this?
It's completely egoistic, as it wouldn't affect your game in any way to have an option under gameplay settings or whatever to allow, for some people, very disliked features of this game to be optional.

The occasional forced third person bothers me a bit. However, not enough to keep me from enjoying the game.

Cool forced perspectives! Will third person players get forced into first person finishing moves as well?

Third person in a primarily first person game should be an option, not shoved down our throats.

People have been complaining (bitterly, especially the "how dare anything make me leave first person view" crowd) about finishing moves since they were announced.

Just like every other feature - no matter what it is, there's at least a few people on the forum for whom it's the Final Insult?.

Awful news.

Looks like i'm going to have to mod them out before I can fully enjoy this game.

A lot of people don't like cheesy, over the top action cinematics.

A lot of people also don't like being thrown into 3rd person constantly when one of main things they love about the series is it's first person gameplay.

Why is this difficult to understand?

It never bothered me in Fallout 3 or New Vegas, but I can understand why other people might find it frustrating.

I am okay with them, so it's indifferent for me. I don't really see anyone would like it to be impossible to disable though.

Yup, same. :sadvaultboy:

Glad I'm playing on the PC. Hopefully some talented modders will come to the rescue quite early.

This questions my view of the game.
Mainly a first person game? Yeah right. Feels more like mainly a third person game by each news we get, and that first person is just something you can do sometimes freely.

So you include the poll option and then call people selfish who voted for that answer? Did you expect it to have 0 votes?

I'm sure the animations look fine.

What I don't like is the game hi-jacking my character, forcing it into third person, and potentially slowing down time ala VATS.

That would just ruin my day if it happened frequently.

Hopefully bows and magic don't have finishing moves so I have a chance at actually enjoying the game.

i can see how some would think forced 3rd person finishing moves are a bit cheesy and would want to turn them off. it all depends on how long the animation takes and how it's implemented. i can see this is something where a finishing move happens and you don't automatically go back to 1st person like you were before the move. that would be a pain.
