Fire Arrows And What ARE those wolves doing?

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 9:17 am

Out of the concept pieces on this page (http://darklythroughglass.blogspot.com/2011/01/skyrim-concept-art.html)....these two pieces seem the most interesting to me.

Bandit Outfit http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlgowfRWI/AAAAAAAAAYk/wvKXZBaZYPA/s1600/artofskyrim_007_banditfem.jpg

Let me just say the female bandit outfit looks amazing...and I don't even play as a female. Can't wait to see male version. But the thing that concerns me is that will we be able to shoot flaming arrows with our bows or is this just for show? I really hope you can and also enchant arrows this time around as well.

What are those wolves doing? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlxGG56vI/AAAAAAAAAZE/5qc5UYmOo00/s1600/artofskyrim_012_interiors.jpg

I'm wondering if you'll actually find wolves wandering around inside dungeons this time too. I think it'd be cool to actually fight these things in an interior instead of just an exterior. I'm trying to see what that one wolf is trying to get a look/smell at on that column while another wolf approaches from the background.

Thoughts?

I forgot about that concept piece. I'm not sure what they're doing.

They should definitely be on arrows...but not just fire effects.

Paws look more fox than wolf like. Who knows what it is, some kind of fox/wolf like animal, of course. it appears to be eating a corpse chained to the pillar.

According to your statement, I'm pretty sure it's a wolf considering there are no foxes in Skyrim. But yeah, the corpse-eating statement is positive.

Thanks for the link. :) I don't get many hits usually.

Since writing that, I'm wondering if the "wolves" aren't some kind of arctic fox (which itself is an exciting thought - the more, and more varied the fauna around Skyrim, the more alive and detailed the world is likely to feel). The one on the left seems to be worrying at a corpse tied to the pillar. If that's at all representative of in-game creature AI, I'll be impressed.

And I agree the bandit armour looks great. I love the fur mantle thing.

I wonder what other kind of arrows are in. I always loved the elemental arrows in Zelda.

No problem.

Yeah same here. If their AI is so much improved...I can only imagine what else they can do. Imagine the two wolves fighting over a piece of meat or something.

I'd like to see a nice variety of arrow effects, both damage and appearance. Who knows? It is a possibility we could get some info about bow and arrows with this new upcoming info.

Would be cool. But it could also be (spoiler alert)........

the executioner at the beginning of the game. Sorry I don't know how to put spoilers in those "spoiler" boxes.

Thinking about that makes me excited! It really is the little things like this that make the game so much more realistic and fun.

Doubt it. From the info I know...foxes are not confirmed. But I believe they're wolves.

I, too love concept art.

Thanks for posting this. Maybe many have already seen these images, but I haven't.

I'm really liking the way all the armor looks. I didn't really like the Elven armor design in Oblivion; I prefer the design here. The "Riften Fishery" page looks interesting, as well.

My favorite image is the one next to the Nord prisoner. I really, really, really hope that winged helmet and armor/cloak set makes it into the game.

What caught my eye was the executioner. But it would be awesome if it physically shows when you enchant something with fire....and it looks cool. I hope other enchantments will look polished as well...if this is the case.

I thought so too. Their bodies look more sleek and small in comparison to that of a typical wolf. I wonder if we can expect to actually see wild animals feasting on a corpse.

Those are pretty clearly Oblivion-sized rats, especially when you consider their size compared to the hanging corpse. To the right is a human sacrifice, meaning that's probably a necromancer dungeon.
