For the love of the nine and all that is holy, why does this keep coming up? How many times must I constantly bring up the fact that guns are not in the spirit of the Tamrelic world. Yes, the technology is there. Yes there exists cannons in Hammerfell. But why can't a gaming series just stick to its classical Swords and Sorcery feel without bringing in guns somewhere along the lines? How could you defile one of the last pure medieval fantasy games still around with even primitive firearms?

My answer, as said in the thousands of threads like this one is no.

Fable didn't svck because of guns. Stop hating Fable just to hate it. Furthermore, "fantasy" doesn't mean it has to be a medieval world. Star Wars is technically fantasy.

Star wars is Sci Fi, I mean really how can you say such blasphemy.

This forever, from what I have read in several threads, its simple, some of the people brand new to the TES series want to change it and add stuff other games that they liked.

Star Wars is NOT fantasy, it's Sci-fi. It is not at all the same. Also, they are not hating fable just to hate it...there are just aspects of the game some people don't like.

On topic...I agree with those who say black-powder weapons would be quite silly to use in a world of magic. If a mage throws a fireball at your rifle, it would blow up.

I know some people would say "It's fantasy, it doesn't have to be realistic!". Well...it still has to fit into the world, and black-powder weapons doesn't fit into Tamriel at all.

So...nope...bad idea. Sorry...very nice pictures though!

See this guy knows whats up Koodos for knowing what the greatest Sci Fi of all time is.

Hell no!

After Gothic got ruined by Jowood, and Piranha Bytes (the developer) went their way and made Risen, I was so happy! Then they announced Risen 2 - and I was even happier.
Then they announced Risen 2 is going to be "inovative" - and have FIREARMS - those freakin [censored]s! They ruined Risen for me.

And now you want that [censored] for the Elder Scrolls too?

HELL NO!

Have you played this "Risen" 2 yet? Who knows, you may or may not like the change.

No. I don't need to play it to know If I "may" or "may not" like it. I KNOW I will not like it.

1. Firearms
2. Pirate Setting.
3. No, thank you.

No thanks. I like my medieval fantasy games because there are no guns. If I wanted a gun I'd play a shooter.

*Shrugs* Kay.

On topic: I'm pretty neutral when it comes to the fire arms thing. If they implement it well, then sure. If they don't, oh well.

I'd rather not turn this into World of Warcraft. Sure, Blunderbuss's are fun at first, but then the developer starts taking it too far with machine guns, turrets, then motorbikes and helicopters and pretty soon its not a fantasy game at all anymore, it becomes a steamy pile of all timelines mashed together in one degenerate theme, lets not open a gateway to creating silly items, say no to guns.

So true.
In these cases, one thing simply leads to another until everything is one big mess.
Maybe it worked out for WoW (don't know, I don't play it), but it could make a real massacre of TES.

Also, I think that guns would only fit Hammerfell.

Yeah good question why would you?

In all seriousness bows and swords fit the fantasy setting a lot more than guns.
Shooting a rifle at a dragon just seems wrong... And even so I feel like the way they're leaning towards more visceral, realistic combat, flinklocks would end up being as impractical as they are for one on one combat in a real life. (Ever wonder why they got 200 guys in a line?)

You made it sound as if we don't need guns because we have magic which is stronger and better than guns.
In that case I just wished to point out that lot of other things can be cut out from the game if we look at things like that.
That's all.

But yeah, like I said, guns in TES simply feel wrong.
All the logic is actually for them since technology for them already exists and it's only matter of time before someone adapts canon into a smaller version know as gun.
Still, guns feel wrong in TES (at least for now).

It's been what, 200 years since we were last in Tamriel?

Perhaps not firearms but you'd think the evolution of combat in all its forms would have brought some change..

And no, I don't mean the ability to dual wield.

Star Wars is fantasy. As for Fable, if you truly think that you're being naive. People DO like to hate on Fable just because it's Fable, disregarding everything good about the game and instead copping up an attitude whenever another game comes up with a new "Fable feature that svcked".

I love Star Wars but I'm not blind to fact that it's more of a fantasy opera in space than it is science fiction. Science fiction is more appropriately Dune, Star Wars is not. There are no explosion sounds in space, for one, if it was true science fiction it would acknowledge that scientific fact into the fiction. For two, what do you think the Force is? Here's a hint: magic.

I'd love a G36 as long as it includes the scope. The problem is I think no merchant in the Skryim province sells NATO cardridge so I will finally end up using the gun as a blunt weapon :o

Else no. I prefer Skyrim without guns, without steam machines or without any addition that might change its native style.

I think that they should have trebuchets and other ballistic style weapons, but not guns...

One thing I would have liked to see would be the clay fire bombs used by the persians in the film 300.

did you see what happened in fable. IMHO a good fantasy game should stay as close to the dark ages as possible when it come to technology

Interesting fact: Firearms are an invention of the Middle Ages (a.k.a. Dark Ages).

It ruin the game! Why have guns when you can have magic! I thought the guns ruined the Fable series as the first one was defiantly the best!

No, sure one could argue that a flintlock style pistol and other guns of that nature seem like a natural fit. But, at least for me, the game just wouldn't have the same charm and overall feel. I''m not even all that big on crossbows to be frank. Besides, we have enough first person shooters on the market. When it comes to The Elder Scrolls, I personally NEVER want to see this happen.
