I was listening to Todd's podcast and I heard him describing fireballs as "charging up and throw a fireball". It sound almost as if the fireball is a throwing weapon with physics applied, and it'll eventually drop on the ground. Even though it might not (most likely not) be the case, it's a fun idea to have a fireball that follows law of physics after being thrown. If the fireball explodes (area affect) then you have a noobtube XD I absolutely love noobtube in MW2. Not because I can kill more using them (I kill better using guns), but it's just so much fun when you kill someone (even with a headshot!) far away whom you can't even see lol.

I'm not 100% sure, but he could have meant that as in charging the spell increases damage.
I agree this would be amazing. Fire does more damage, but it makes sense that to balance that they would have it be less accurate. Lightning could follow a straight arc, but do less damage, etc.

i STRONGLY disagree, plus from what i've read (everything available on GI) they already have a solid magic system

Yes, they have a magic system in place, but they have already discussed each magic school having it's own status effects, so it wouldn't be outside of the realm of possibility that they would cast differently as well.
