Firefox in background ruin anyone elses' frame rates?

Post » Fri Jun 24, 2011 12:14 pm

Crysis 2 (multiplayer anyways) takes a 15 to 30 fps hit when I have firefox running in the background. Anyone else experienced this? It's easy enough to close firefox, but really, WTF, especially with my system being:

AMD Phenom II x6 1090t
16 GB ram
Radeon HD 5770 GPU
Win 7 x64

Ya, I'm using Firefox 3.6 rather than 4/5...

I'm more curious if it's just my system, rather than how to fix this, actually.

Yeah honestly it's your gpu man. I have the same gpu and I'm unable to max it out (When I say maxing I mean I can't sustain 30fps). If you plan on installing the dx11 patch and high-res textures, I suggest you upgrade to atleast an nvidia gtx 560 ti.

Firefox plugin-container.exe is a memory hungry program thats not efficient... especially so if ur running and flash-related programs..

i may have a Phenom X4, and 3gb ram with a gtx480... but its no match for facebook's Restaurant City with firefox.
it lags my comp majorly

Well Firefox 5 supposedly uses less RAM... (I can honestly say I think it's using more...)
