Firelance Event

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 1:14 pm

Quick question about the firelance event, it appears mine happened near Fort Bannister, but not sure cuz there's this HUGE crater in the ground with a trench leading up to it. Alien power cells were EVERYWHERE, not just in the crater. Plus there was an Enclave outpost nearby?

Call me crazy, but I don't see a question here. I see a question mark, only it's at the end of an actual statement of fact.

Anyways I don't think this is actually the event. The Firelance event doesn't hit ground, and doesn't leave a crater. At least, that crater has nothing to do with the Firelance Event, which occurs in the SKY, and then the power cells and weapon fall down, spawned over top of the player's head.

Confusion is obvious. But you answered the nonexistent question. So, wtf is the crater from? & the fact that the alien ammo is everywhere led me to think this was firelance....

Does the firelance stand out on the ground like the alien ammo does at night?

That huge crater is a mystery.... and there ARE energy cells in there, but they are not related to the event, unless of course it happened there. Firelance is brutal to find, as it is the same color as the brown ground. I do it bobby-style: imagine a grid, and slowly go back and forth. If you have Dogmeat as a companion, he will find it for you. I have had the event before, never found the weapon (but did find all the ammo), went and recruited Dogmeat then went back and successfully found the weapon. Mark the area on your local map with a custom marker.

The last time I had this event, I was easily able to find it, as all I had to do was kill the raider who nearly killed me with it. :sadvaultboy:

What sword? You get the shock sword at the end of O:A. Shiskebab is better than any sword, imo. The Firelance is a random event. I've had it happen all over the map....

My last character had the Firelance event happen (first time in six playthroughs). It happened near the Talon Company outpost near Megaton (toward the NW). It was behind the two buildings behind the fence. I checked that area with my current character and there is no crater with a trench. With the Firelance event character there is a crater and trench.

Trenchas deep or deeper than your character is tall? My crater even had an army truck in the bottom of it

No, it was about knee deep. The crater was about chest deep. The crater had nothing in it but power cells. I had cells all over the place including inside the ruined building.

The crater you found is one of the 3 places in the wasteland you can find the cells, but it has nothing to do with the Firelance event (which is the fourth and final source in the vanilla game).

Are the other two the Zeta crash site & Fort Independence?

Yeah, alien crash site and Fort Independence. Broken Steel and Mothership Zeta both add some in locations specific to the add-ons.
