First City revealed.

Well, if that's Markarth Side I could say it's an open city. Rather than an enclosed one in Oblivion...

It looks big, but not as big as I thought it would be, maybe it's because of the angle the picture was taken.

Gosh, Pete is making me mad.

Probably the angle. You look at the back, you see doorways and such carved into the mountains. Maybe half of it is in the mountain ?

Yeah, to me it looks like the tail end of a town wedged into a valley. Could be a lot more there, but who knows.

Silvade, apparently you're hard to please because you think that people should live in cities :P

Meh, it will probably look better populated. Besides, that is just one city, it could be Bravil quality for all we know lol. I'm guessing there will be one city that has amazing architecture.

It's a bit tough to see the scale of it with no NPC's walking around but it looks amazing. It's funny in the way that it kind of cements the idea that the dwemer were normal height. I can see it now though, waterfalls rushing down, Nords walking around with a few other races mixed in making things and gathering supplies. This is going to be so awesome! :celebration:

lol, it actually kind of reminds me of that town in F3 that revolved around the bomb.

The fact that it went from 8 major cities in Oblivion to 5 in Skyrim was already enough to make me a bit angry, now it looks like they are about the same size as in Oblivion and even less populated!

I am pissed!

...

I should calm down and stop complaining.

Perhaps that's just the "forbidden" Dwemer ruins that are shoved into the back of Markarth Side, which is humongous.

Pete Hines tweeted http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/28963471538262016 It claims that http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/screenshots/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim/TheElderScrollsVSkyrimMedia/Markarth01.jpg is a screen of one of the major cities. Obviously it is lacking in NPCs in that screen but it is probably not populated in the game at the time of the screenshot.

Unfortunately no... you can read at the URL. Markarth Side, which is a city in Skyrim's map.

No you shouldn't. If people wouldn't complain, improvements would never be made.
But some people have trouble accepting that and start whining about "whiners".

Well, Todd told us that would be cities made by Dwemer, in which the nords have moved in now.

Well it's going from IC with 7 smaller cities to 5 ICs and lots of villages. I think it will be great. As for the lack of population. For all we know they haven't populated it with any NPCs for that screenshot. Or they could all be massed at some gathering somewhere else in the city.

You seem to have mixed up "massive" with "major." Skyrim has 7 Major cities, it's established in the lore. 5 of those cities are "MASSIVE" as described in the Game Informer article.

Well, we all know pete can be wrong, wait with the anger until we actually get a "real" reveal of one of the major cities, like with streets and people and stuff.

Oblivion has small citys. Skyrim's 5 citys are as big as the Imperial city.

Pete said 5 major cities... a bunch of articles mentioned 5 major cities. GI never implied 5 massive cities, unfortunately.

I'd say 2 of those Major Cities in the lore were destroyed by Dragons like Kvatch. But I would love to be proven wrong as these 5 cities being as big as the Imperial City.

I don't know, I hope he's not pulling a fast one again

Pete Hines trolling? Nah........against Beth forum policy.:P

I hope it has plenty of NPCs, and it looks like its been carved out of a valley or mountain. Are these the Dwemer ruins that nords live in?

Okay. Lemme just double check the GI article to see if they mentioned "massive" instead of "major".

I'm wishing for five cities as big as IC.

Everyone should calm down and think with cooler heads, you see only a part of the major city and there are clues that show us that there is much more to the city and seeing as how it is deep and multi-layered, it's going to be huge. Also we don't know why there are no people in the screen, it could just be that they didn't populate it with NPCs yet when they took that screen.

Okay, confused again : I don't see how this is not a big city. I mean, Bruma, Anvil... You get around in five minutes, right. Just look at this pic : below you see stairs and a glimpse of architecture, up right more stairs and doorways... I might be wrong, but I can easily imagine a mess of tunnels linking all this in the moutain side, for one thing. And that's only if the wall portion below your feet doesn't also sport doorways. Visible side of an iceberg and all that.

Well, that's it, then. Time to "go dark" for me. I didn't want to see even an inch of any of the five main cities in the game before I got it. I shall not spoil myself further.

That said, very interesting if that is a Dwemer ruin adapted for Nord living. I like it.

Well, that's extremely unrealistic. Wishing is fine but I hope you don't expect anything near that scale because you'll just get disappointed.
