If it hasn't been said already, DO NOT MENTION POKEMON. I cannot stress that enough. I knew a guy that was like that. EVen I looked down upon him. Do not be like him. DO NOT MENTION POKEMON.

What you did there. I see it.

You crazy Americans. Our schools don't really have gangs to join.

AHHAHAAHA! You southerners with your dollhouse lives. Of course our schools have gangs.

What you did there. I see it.

You see, that's what I'm talking about.

my freshman year was last year, it wasnt bad at all. i found it a refreshing change from middle school. just make some friends and since they dont have freshman friday at my school (theres only about 300 people enrolled) i dont know what to say on that, just stay with a group of your friends and run fast :P

but high school isn't something you should be scared of, its alot more fun believe it or not, i loved my freshman year.

This thread is hilarious. You guys are acting like it's 1968 and he's enlisting in the Marine Corps to go to Vietnam or something. It's really not much to worry about. Sure, school is boring and is full of jackasses, but you could be gearing up for much worse.

Hope so. In society at large, Pokemon is considered one of those things you do in elementary school, then grow out of. Part of me thinks you don't want to be labled as "that weird kid who still likes pokemon".

Who gives a flying [censored] what other fools think of you?

If you and your friends want to talk about the damn pokemans, then TALK ABOUT POKEMANS.

Like I said, its not as if the kind of people who would label you JUST FOR LIKING A SPECIFIC VIDEO GAME would be the kind of people you want to talk to anyways. Its not as if they're going to accost you just for talking about pokemon. This isn't the 1960s.

In my own case, I've found that I've gotten far past the point of caring about what people think about my interests.

People talk. To the people you might want to be friends with. One foot wrong can spell disaster, socially, at high school/college.

Ehh, from my understanding in my High School years, people do not give a crap about that kind of thing. If ya from a different ethic or culture compare to the school's majority ethic or culture, well, that might be a bit of a problem.

Hm, let's see. He's going to be the new kid at a school that apparently has behavorial problems. He won't know anyone for at least the first week or so. Does it seem like a good idea to you for him to rattle on about how much he loves Lucario?

If he had a peer group that also loved pokemon, then there wouldn't be much problem here. But there isn't one.

In my own case, I've found that I've gotten far past the point of caring about what people think about my interests.

Good for you! You're also nineteen years old and out of high school.

Wasn't like that at my schools.

No, no it doesn't.

And, as I said before, who gives a flying [censored] about SOCIAL things at high school beyond your own group of close friends? Drama only matters if you CARE. I can't tell you the number of times my friends and I told folks off for being idiots, regardless of what they said later. Those who were our friends were still our friends. Those we didn't care about we still didn't care about.

I'm sorry if your school was some sort of hellish society where friends are lost and gained in the blink of an eye and where you get jumped in the bathrooms for talking about Pokemon at lunch, but that's not how mine was, and honestly, that's not how it is at all.

Find a group of friends, ignore everyone else.

I was like that back in high school as well. My tactic of being myself worked wonders, even if I still have connection problems.

That's some bad advice. You should at least be on name-basis with as many people as possible. Of course there is gonna be the group you identify with the most, but you shouldn't outright shut out other people.
