My First day Of High School

Post » Sat Apr 17, 2010 9:44 am

When a fight breaks out, don't get caught in the stampede of people going to watch the fight.

As for friends, you'll end up in the same type of group you always end up in. Unless you stumble into another group. (seriously, sit at the right table at lunch, and you'll stumble yourself into all sorts of groups)

I don't believe that for a second. Secondary school (our equivalent) svcked. University was the best days of my life so far.

Yeah, going to agree with this. High school was horrid. Hated it, full of rich kiddy cliques, and crap (you know the movie Mean Girls? Yeah, it was made because of the kids where I live).

Went to college, and met friends for life. High school? There's only one, but that's because we were friends from middle school. College is the best years of your life, high school is crap.

You crazy Americans. Our schools don't really have gangs to join.

On a related note, I have to go to a uni taster course for 3 days on monday. I'm bricking it because I'm always nervous around new people, and the added effect of nervousness about uni makes it horrible :sadvaultboy: Edit: Anyone live near Stafford, so if I freak out they can come and comfort me?

Meeee!

So do I. You two supply the beer and I'll attend.

Don't worry. The first day of anything might be rough but ya would get the hang of it. Find a group of people ya like or a club or whatever.

Yes...

Fights are usually common in HS. Try ya best not to get involve with those shenanigans. Fun to watch, but try not to get involve.

Pretty much indeed. Much more fun and much more open in term of schedule compare to HS. Nobody mess around and everyone there to learn.

For some reason I always thought you were older than me ...

I was nervous at first too but it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I just finished my freshman year. The first few weeks feel weird but you'll get used to it. The teachers vary a lot, some will be nice, some will be very strict, and others will be a mix of those. Just talk to people and you should have no trouble making friends.

EDIT:

Also, there is no such thing as Freshman Friday. At least at my school ...

That's open to debate. I will agree that college is where "life" really starts for us westerners, but a lot of people have fun in High School. Some don't. It really depends on the overall enviroment and a student's peers.

Get your paddling over with now... It'll hurt less than if they find you alone one night.

Get a leather jacket and grease your hair back. Work on your show tunes.

Dress up as Lucario.

You'll become very popular fast.

True true. In a few weeks you can just walk around and everyone will know you! As you pass by they'll say 'hey, it's that Lucario kid!'.

Just watch out for people with red-white balls in their hands.

Fact: Freshman year is barely any different from any other year of school. The only difference is that this year, you'll have alot of teachers trying to scare you stiff about how "different" high school is from middle school. They'll let up after a couple weeks and all will return to normal. It'll all be over before you know it.

This. At least this goes for my high school.

I'm scared... I know nobody there because I'm switching districts. Any tips and how was your Freshman year?

Switching districts? Even betterer for you, because history from old schools probably wont follow.

I say you prepare a new you a new identity, new style, new attitude, mask yourself up and see if your fellow students buy it, something like an experiment you know :D

Make sure to join one of the gangs when you get there, don't drop the soap in the shower and it's pretty much shank or be shanked. Watch out for the guys with teardrop tattoos.

I don't know [censored] about the Amedican school system, IMO it svcks.

If it was me, I wouldn't join groups/gangs/whatever, take [censored] from anyone, submit to peer pressure (dem groups).

So you admit you know nothing about them, then say they svck.....

Let me guess, you got that info from listening to the jokes in this thread, and from watching hollywood movies?

Since I dropped out of college, (like an idiot) I can't speak there, But as someone who's had over twenty years to think about his high school years (I hated them back then), In retrospect, those WERE the best years I had. I only wish I knew then what I know now.

Regrets? yeah I got em. Mistakes? made lots of em.
It's amazing what a little age does to someone. The way you feel about something now, is not necessarily how you will feel about it in ten or twenty years.

Enjoy these years, you will never get them back once they are over, and memories are all that are left.

I would actually advise to avoid referencing pokemon in high school. It's looked down upon by most of the population.
