My First day Of High School

Post » Sat Apr 17, 2010 11:21 am

I'm confused. What's high school? I'm in the UK, is high school what we english people call secondary school? I really feel like I should know this but I never have and I never really thought to ask before.

Well, here we have six years of Elementary, three years of Middle School/Junior High, and four years of High school. So yeah, I don't know if that's what you call Secondary school over there.

Edit: Well, Antibody's reply is better than mine... Yeah

Ah.

From what I can gather middle school and high school is secondary school but unnecessarily split into two different schools. Ha, you americans and your strange education system. Whatever will you think of next?

Oh yeah, speaking of which, Peace, who you are and how you act freshman year will stick with you until the very end of senior year. You could change completely from the person you were freshman year, but other people wont see you differently. So if you're a goth (I know your not, this is an example), and sophomore year you turn into a normal person, people will still see you as that goth kid until the end of high school. If you're an [censored], and you turn into a nice guy sophomore year, you'll still be labeled an [censored] for the rest of high school. If you act creepy, no matter what you do, you will always be that creepy kid. I could go on, but I think you get my point. Just always keep in mind, even at the end of senior year, people will still judge you based on how you acted in freshman year.

I would actually advise to avoid referencing pokemon in high school. It's looked down upon by most of the population.

AWW HELL NAW.
On the wrestling team, you're not cool if you don't have a Pokemon name.

Peace Bullet, sit with the band geeks. They're pretty interesting people.

Oh yeah, speaking of which, Peace, who you are and how you act freshman year will stick with you until the very end of senior year. You could chance completely from the person you were freshman year, but other people wont see you differently. Not that any of that matters AFTER your senior year. You won't see almost all of those people for the rest of your life if you don't want to.

No, but Peace Bullet still has to deal with them for 4 years until he can experience the bliss of never having to deal with them again.

Just be sure to talk to people and join some group with similar interests otherwise you end up like me who become the creepy kid who may or may not stab you and become a serial killer for kicks; still recovering from that reputation.

Also for your first day you will be nervous but providing you keep a clear level head you should be fine and put some distance between you and anyone who considers themselve as a "gangster" or "G".

the wow was about the consideration and thought you give this

In real life i actually wore "filters" so fodder won't approach me, you guys make it a goal in life to be liked by mediocre minds

I get that, tough i could never be friends with someone like that, trying to be liked by someone like that is just a waste, for me.

What i am trying to say is that i wanted nothing to do with those people in high school.

It's not about being liked by everyone, it's about turning high school, which is generally crappy, into something less crappy. You can and should be yourself in high school, however if "yourself" is a person that people generally don't like, it's not outrageous to consider that, seeing how you'll be forced to be in the same building for 4 years with these people, you should think about acting a little differently. You shouldn't care what other people think in real life if you'll never see those people again, but you'll be seeing these people for 4 years. It kind of matters what they think, at least until you graduate, then you can flip them off and never see them again if you don't want to.

Having been out of high school for a year now, I've had a lot of time to reflect on those 4 years and I've got to say I would have had such a different experience in high school if someone had given me this advice before my freshman year.

I know what you are trying to say, it may work for you, for me the very though of doing that fills me with rage.

And i had friends like me in high school so loneliness was not an issue.

Come to think of it it has never been an issue for me, i like solitude and i despise the average joe and the social rat race.

I spent in total 4 years alone in this 20 years of mine, standing alone is one of the things i am good at.

Every society wants the standardization of behavior.

You are free to be yourself, within those standards.

What a load.

Maybe if he doesn't have any friends he can find that DO like games like Pokemon, but my friends and I spent most of our free time in school (Which was a lot) playing Magic: The Gathering, talking about video games or technology, and generally ignoring everybody else. Once you do it for long enough, its not like people are going to walk up to you EVERY DAY and say the Pokemon or whatever is stupid.

Hell, we TAUGHT several of the football players how to play Magic.

I don't think being transgender qualifies as "something bad that people will always see you as until the end of high school" You're transgender, it isn't like being a jerk or creepy or whatever, in your case if people don't like you for it it's their fault and not yours. Jerks can act nicer, creepy guys can act not so creepy, but you can't stop being transgender. Not that you should, anyway.

Common sense tells a different story, tough i will not call you on that since i don't live in america, the only things i know of high schools there is from movies.

Here racism is still ok and there is no political correctness to speak of.

If it hasn't been said already, DO NOT MENTION POKEMON. I cannot stress that enough. I knew a guy that was like that. Even I looked down upon him. Do not be like him. DO NOT MENTION POKEMON.
