My first RP/FF idea

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 1:04 pm

OK, this is my first time trying a Roleplay Fan-fiction for any game. But after playing around with a roleplay character of mine on Oblivion and living like my character has an actual life and not a sleepless daedra slaying hero, I've come up with this:

A sort of 'Stories from Cyrodil'. Basically, I'm thinking of getting some people to sign up a character and tell the story of their lives, who they are, where they live what they do for a living and live out the character's lives, possibly interchanging with others stories/characters. No made up places, make it as real as possible by using places actually in Oblivion.

For example, basing mine off my roleplay character, I am Bassus Marillin, an Imperial Hunter/Alchemist who lives at Waters Edge (I'm actually at White Stallion Lodge on game) who goes out on hunting trips for game meat and pelts as well as collecting plants to make into potions for 2 or 3 days at a time before ridiing his trusted Chestnut Horse all around Cyrodil, trading his game meat, pelts and potions to each city stopping at various hotels and lodges as he is gone for days at a time before arriving back at his house to relax before repeating the process.

Others might want to be a member of one of the Guilds, an Imperial Legion soldier, an gladiator at the Arena etc.

Any thoughts? Like could this be a doable and maybe successful roleplay fan-fic and all in all a good idea?

First of all, welcome to the Elder Scrolls Fan Fiction/RP board. Normally I'd give you a fishy stick, but you've been on the forums for a while now, so it's not really appropriate. I noticed you spend most of your time over in Fallout, if you've ever looked at their RP section you will most likely see that it is fairly different than ours. Not to sound pretentious, but by fairly I mean far less intellectually stimulating. Nonetheless, welcome to Tes RPs, I hope you enjoy your stay ;)

But as to your idea, I must be perfectly honest in saying that it does not sound like the most interesting roleplay I've seen. It sounds like a bunch of players sitting around and describing their lives, and not much else. Background stories are always good to have in a roleplay, but the main focus of the RP is the adventure at hand. I don't mean to sound harsh, but this seems rather drab in comparison to most RPs.

I'm not telling you this because I think it is a bad idea, simply that few people will most likley sign up. Perhaps if you participated in a few RPs, or wrote a fan fic first, you'd understand what kind of narrative detail most of us put in. Dialogue and conversations area all fun and good, but there needs to be something else to attract the player.

Regardless, I hope to see you again soon, perhaps with a new roleplay full of plot and intrigue ;)

Thanks for stopping by, and keep up the good work :goodjob:

Yes I do/or did spend most of my time in the Fallout area, I had Oblivion first, played it, couldn't get into it (mostly cuz I never went to Kvatch), got Fallout 3, completed that, got all DLCs, now bored of that, came back to Oblivion and actually playing it, and loving it.

And thanks for your thoughts. I could not see any fresh RPs I could join so I thought of this. I do however want to roleplay as my hunter fellow for my first RP participation since I am playing him on Oblivion and come up with a story for him as part of a roleplay, then probably try out an actual fanfic for him and make it interesting. Although thinking about it, a fanfic may be better suited to my character.

:sadvaultboy: Well, if you went past the first page, you would see three RPs still accepting members:

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1067586

And I'm fairly confident Half Tooth would accept new members to her Dark Bloods RP, seeing as how the Morrowind group is currently at three or four people.

All of which (cough cough) are in need of members joining up and a little bit of interest to keep them from failing before they even begin. I honestly hate it when such a thing happens (cough cough).

Thanks, it's a little late and I'm a bit tired, I'll look into those.

You should get that cough sorted. :P
