First patch Stats

Post » Fri Feb 04, 2011 9:11 am

So i know a lot of ppl were for some reason against them having stats in the game, which is why their arent any....last i heard

But since i also heard there is going to be a Statistics site with all your stats and junk like MAYBE, gun kills and parkour moves, just wondering if anyone else thinks they should just add stats into the game with the first patch

i think yes

Edit: took out the k/d ratio part since thats not what this topic was about, i was simply asking if they have a stat site (whatever the stats tracked are) do u think they should just put it in the game in a patch

No.

Stats make people play for things that don't even matter such as K/D or accuracy. They will be to focused on bumping that up that they will not pay attention to the actual game. Not to mention it influences boosting.

Although I do think that having a site like Bungie has for Halo is gonna be sweet. I do hope they don't track K/D on the site though. Total XP, objectives completed, buffs handed out, etc. That's what I want to see.

No. No [censored]in' no. At least if it's on a site I can ignore it, rather than going to maintain my KDR above the average like I do in other games. ._.

Also we don't know for sure if the stats site has KDR anyway.

Why would you want to see your KDR in game? it'll just shift the focus theres no point. Ive only ever seen KDR used for individual bragging rights if anything.

The way i see it is they put stats in cause poeple whinge so they put it on a site to shut them up and at the say time the real players can not worry about it because it's out of the way. there ya go question answered now we can drop this topic being that it's been done 30 times already.

i was just saying since SD have decided to throw up a stat site (whatever those stats might be)

and since this seems like something they've only mentioned recently, so maybe a post development idea

it just seems logical that the next step would be to add it into the game since they are already tracking it, this would be especially nice for console players on one internet line, so u dont have to exit the whole game to check your stats

geez

Not gonna lie. If you add stats, the next things people will want are going to be medals, trophies, or challenges, lol. Just don't go near there. Halocharts kind of topped this category out a LONG time ago.

Seems logical, not really it just seems convenient for people obsessed over stats. Exiting the game to just look at a couple figures isnt a crisis really....

Some people can enjoy having a KDR stat and still focus on the objectives. It adds another element to the game which shouldn't be a bad thing. There are going to be dumb/selfish players regardless of what stats you omit. I think most people are just glad that their bad K/D's will finally be hidden.

Can anyway even confirm this fabled site?

Because from my understanding SD has explicitly stated there would never be such a thing. Ever.

Hey kids! Guess what - if you have NOTHING to say but a one word comment, that you think is being clever or funny, after half a dozen other people have also spammed a response? Think again - don't post. Make an actual answer with civil comments on WHY you disagree.

OP, I edited your post. I will explain why via PM. Be glad I am feeling charitable this evening.

Why does everyone care for stats so much? If you want to see numbers go play with a calculator...

Now that I got that outta the way, I believe that having the stats in-game would indeed be convenient, it would also cause a tragic increase of objective ignorance, people would just forget about the objectives and focus on just killing and possibly camping.

I like stats because they give you extra stuff to play for, extra goals and extra accomplishments. They track your progress and give you something to compare with your friends. I plan to play with good players and we will undoubtedly play a lot of one-sided matches which can be really boring when all you're playing for is exp. I played a lot of MAG and I know what it's like to play long games against an overmatched team. Fortunately on MAG I always had stats I could improve on.

Some people do but others are driven by that stat and play accordingly, it gives an incentive even if it is a minor one for anti-teamwork imo. What exactly is the element it would add though?

OH MY GAWD YOU ARE ALL SUCH IDIOTS

okay forget the stupid K/D ratio that u morons cant seem to control yourselves over

geez

caps lock-check
blanket insult-check
He Mad.

that said, I'm ok with stats as long as they leave K/D out of it. Accuracy, objectives completed, times incapacitate (not killed), maybe something funny/unimportant like number of times you high-tailed it from a team fight. and then of course you could add sort of an arcade style biggest exp score over 10-20 seconds or something like that.

Well im sure there would be stats for how many times you Healed someone, Buffed someone, Resupplied someone, Revived someone,Caputured an objective,Protected an objective etc etc etc etc

so i would think stats would encourage ppl to do objecitves and use teamplay

which is why i think most of you are the ones obsessed with the ONE k/d statistic that you want to ruin all those other stats for ppl who WANT to focus on them

If you scroll down the comments gstaff explains that the focus of the site is NOT leaderboards or k/d. While this doesn't completely rule them out I'd say the safe bet is that the stat site will show recent matches in detail and favorite weapons/abilities over the long term. Just my two cents.

Some people care about their overall performance in a game. That doesn't seem too outrageous to me.

I say add the stats site for people who want it. People who don't want it don't have to look. Shocking, I know...

The way people seem so scared of K/D ratios makes me think most people here plan on dying more than killing.

I understand the argument "It isn't about killing! it's about objectives!" and I'm with you on that. But I also don't find it unreasonable to want to know how well I am doing compared to others. People hope Brink will be competitive, and stats are what competitive people want.

EDIT: I would like to add that this is another case of me seeing relentless COD bashing. I get it. We all get it. COD isn't great and shouldn't have the fanbase it does. But that doesn't mean anything Brink has in common with COD should automatically shut down with reckless abandon. You're all trying to make Brink out to be an anti-COD instead of just letting Brink be Brink.I like Brink and I think most people playing it will be like-minded with me in terms of the style of gameplay we hope for, but the more I read the forums the more the Brink community scares me because it seems like a bunch of snobby FPS hipsters, as strange as that seems to sound.

It is funny how some people on here would make you think dying meant you were playing well. I'm cool with anyone who is willing to sacrifice themselves to better the team, but I value people more who can attack objectives and stay alive to see them through.

In Brink NOBODY will want to focus on k/d ratio, you can play the game offline in single player with bots on easy, so even if someone has an high k/d it means nothing because theres no telling how (or she) he got it
^
So theres no reason to take away things like how many kills i get with each gun to help judge which one i might be better with, or how many objectives i captured or drones i repaired

If your suggestion is to take away every kind of statistic because of somthing as lame as u cant get a good k/d ratio

then i say NO

no
