Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:44 pm

lets me first say HI (just joined) .

Now, does anyone know if we shall be able to see our legs ingame? I find it very immersive to look down and see my legs but from what I have seen so far, legs are invisible, can anyone confirm?

I recall Radho saying no to this in an interview. I could go find the link from all the new interviews or you can trust me. Anyway why does it matter?

It's just one of those little things that would be awesome to see in a game, something that most developers usually avoid. Like the OP said, it makes the game more immersive.

You can see your legs when you slide.

I think you should be able to see your lower torso (kinda as if were acutely looking down cuz they do want this to be some what realistic as I recall in an interview.

Yes I know that they made the game look more cartoony on purpose

Uhh, you can tell by watching any of the videos that it's not in. I don't know of many people who can slide with their legs behind them!

I don't like it too much, because BRINK does sort of focus on your own character. But then again it would require a lot of effort to make every possible outfit available in a rendered full-body interface.

Thanks, honestly people when you could be killing enemies or buffing your teammates why are you spending time looking at your legs?

Every video I have seen that had sliding, you could not see your legs. You can't see them when your standing/walking/sprinting for a reason - they are not rendered, so why would they magically render them for slides?

I agree! and if you've just jumped off a building to take someone by surprise, and you look down 'not to see your enemy...' but your legs instead. I would be greatly disappointed if my legs got in the way of me and my enemy :P

Dammit, now this guy's gonna have me spinning around in circles looking at the floor, trying to see if I can't see my legs without sliding.

When I first played halo, i noticed the legs, I stared at em for more than 10 minutes.

To me they never got in the way, but in a heavily used parkour game like 'Brink' i can imagine the legs could... get in the way.

Imagine, AC First person.

Mirror's Edge works perfectly fine with a full animated body interface.

Oh yeah, i loved that game.

But i mean like in Mirrors edge you didn't really have to kill anyone, they didn't want you too..
but Brink is going really serious about the you having no distractions and limitations.

I see your point, I always liked having legs in a first person game. Immersion.

I like your Channel btw

This is one of those things I never noticed in games (FPS's) but other people do, lol! :D I guess I'm too busy surviving (since I'm not a very hardcoe player and my accuracy is not that great since I tend to do a lot of panicking and running around, lol  ) to notice I have feet when I look down!

Mirror's Edge is the only game I actually noticed the legs and---I know that it may not be a popular opinion---but the legs sometimes kind of bother me whenever I see them, hehe. I think maybe it's because I'm one of those people who don't like anything getting in my view. If it's not a gun (or my hands) or a heath bar, it should not be in my sight. Maybe I get distracted by legs or something, lol.

Did Halo: Reach and Black Ops have legs, by the way? I never noticed because I never looked down like, ever, lol! I don't think Borderlands, Metroid Prime 3, and Elder Scrolls games have them, either, I think...

I don't mind seeing hands whenever I climb up (because it shows I am climbing up and it's quick), but legs for some reason bother me for some reason, especially since I'm one of those people whose character are always jumping and running around a lot. (I make my family dizzy whenever I play anything, lol, because my characters are always bouncing off the wall and I'm moving the camera at the same time). I don't know. I guess it's the perspective of the legs or something or the fact I cannot get distracted by anything that's not used as a weapon or something, lol....

And, I have a feeling, Brink's going to be one of those games where it's going to get crowded (with icons and other characters and guns) and you cannot be too distracted, lol.

EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the forums, gostlyfantom! :)
