if you think that the slight obstruction of your view when you look DOWN is a problem, you have some issues. It
Right I suppose people not agreeing with you priorities on the game aesthetics might be a sign of "issues" that's a reasonable attitude to take....
or maybe Bethesda RPGs have a habit of hiding really cool items in places (like between a bed and the wall) with such dedication that many of us who have played enough of their games now feel if we can't see the floor (or straight down that tiny crack between a piece of furniture and the wall) we may have just missed a really cool weapon or strange note. This is not unreasonable on the gamers part however - because they do have a habit of hiding useful and sometimes very important items in those tiny cracks. At this stage in development adding in a visible body in 1st person would probably cause a lot of frustration since much of the game design has been finished so a lot of those items are hidden. I think people are just worried that if you got your way they'd appreciate the cool immersion for all of about 5 seconds before they start wanting to stab some quest NPC in the face because they can't find the note he left somewhere in his room. The fact that Bethesda programmers and level designers happen to all be leprechauns and therefore magically adept at hiding stuff in strange places is part of the fun of some of their quests but it is why I imagine all my characters in every game after Daggerfall had to have a permanently bent neck by the end of the game.
But yeah having your body in 1st person (when appropriate and in an uninstrusive way) would help with immersion particularly in scripted events and boss battles where you might be flung about. True mirrored surfaces might also be cool too- if the character animations are significantly improved.
