I'm getting a Moira Brown vibe off her. Methinks her missions will be similar to the wasteland survival guide from FO3. Go to this location, investigate / do specific tasks, come back and report to her so she can write an article.

That's very possible. Which could also mean that she's not a companion in the sense that she actually travels with you. Which is fine cause to be honest I can't see her fending off a bunch of mutants.
I thought Bethesda confirmed that she is one of the 12 standard companions just like Dogmeat, Preston Garvey, and Codsworth. I honestly can't see how she would be considered a companion if she does not travel alongside the Sole Survivor.
In regard to possible reporting missions, they could be her own form of "loyalty quests".
They don't have anything on Bittercup. And she's around the Lone Wanderers age range. I mean the kid from 101 is 19 years old. Fam has a lot to learn. That's why I went with the Child At Heart instead of Lady Killer in Tres.
It would be quite cool if Piper used explosives.
I think will be getting stories for her in the game not to sure though, we will all see when it's out for sure.
My guess is that she'll offer a "Wasteland Survival Guide" style questline, except instead of taking part in experiments to write a survival guide, we'll be getting the scoop on the politics of the wasteland. The truth is out there!
For me she is a curious character. I do like the "Moira part deux" thought just to gain some passive perks/ New England wasteland experience.
Combat really that where you want to see her ??
Honestly her finger-less gloves gave me a mixed feeling of boxer/ fast draw pistol type. But full on Parker with a Thompson -Edit - (its the hat I think)
Also before some beat's me too bad catch phrase guesses (sorry folks I dont do this as a job so there not great)
"New's flash"
"This just in, asshat shot in ally"
"now I have to redo the obituary page thanks alot."
I'd imagine she'd use something small, that can be easily concealed. Also, I'm wondering if at the end of her questline we'll get a copy of her hat, like Boone's beret?
That makes complete sense. You would know all the players and the politics of the factions. This would leave you to decide how to proceed with the factions and who you might want to help or fight against. It could also steer you toward clues about your family.
In just over 3 weeks, we will know for sure!
Apparently when you actually get her in Fallout Shelter, though, she doesn't have any weapons with her. Happens with a few other Legendary Dwellers, like I think Three Dog.
Yep, from what I've seen she doesn't have a signature weapon in FoS. So, either A. She doesn't use a signature weapon, or B. It's a new weapon and they don't want to show it off yet.
When I got her she came without any weapons, so who knows, she seems like she'd use a nail or staple gun. Something "newsy".
I'm thinking she'll use her fists, and pistols, and maaaybe SMGs - weapons you'd expect some PI or undercover cop to carry around.
Nah, her weapon is a rolled up newspaper wrapped with barbed wire, called the Pulitzer.
Thanks for making me see this Yeah it should be interesting watching where they take this, if this is a deliberate design choice I think I approve. Making people almost caricatures that show their personality on their face...quite awesome really.
And taking that and spreading it over every building, road, car, tree, and oasis in the wasteland.
Those http://fallout.wikiaglobal.com/wiki/File:Pre-War_vehicle_red_%28Fallout_4%29.jpg are amazing for a start (seen in our origin story).
