Both: 1'st while in combat or tight quarters and 3'rd otherwise

i used 1st for battle and 3rd while traveling in Oblivion so an improvement won't kill me. but if 3rd person is just as functional as 1st person then i will use it all the time. i like to see my character

This.

Generally I fight in the 1st. Much better for that and more immersive IMO. I tend to use the 3rd when travelling to look at my character/armor etc. I mean I downloaded all those cool armor mods in order to see them right?

1st for battle and travel, 3rd for sneaking and looking around tight corners.

Third person for checking my characters appearance. First person for everything else.

First person will defiantly and always be my primary view. This not my "Character" this is me in another world, I don't think it should be treated as a character. I will try third person because of the hype Bethesda has made about the improvements to it, but 1st person most the time.

3rd person.

I like to see my character, its actions and whats aroundme, so hopefully the 3rd person view is as good as ME or DA so i can play it that way.

But then i've never played an Elder scrolls game before so who knows.

First, although the market is oversaturated with first person shooters, its very rare to see it in an RPG other then Elder Scrolls, and that's what makes the series so great.

Both. Third when moving around, first when fighting or interacting with things/people.

In fact, removal of the current free changing between first and third person would be as close to a deal breaker as it can get for me.

I was a first person player through the whole series. I heard that 3rd person is improved this time around, and I plan on giving it a try, but unless it's rediculously awesome I'll likely play in first again.

I do like the 3rd person view a lot as you can see every motion of your char / all your shiny armour and stuff...

So now they've improved the 3rd person view i'm uber excited to see how good it is now!

Both...But 3P mostly. Shooting bows, picking up things and browsing caves, it's 1P. Combat and walking, it's 3P.

I can't see, how people keep up with multiple enemies, in CQC, using 1P. In ANY game, I always loose track of them when they jump around, out of sight. I ALWAYS turn the wrong way. If the enemy is just out of sight, on my rt, I seem to end up turning to my left. Thus turning all the way around, before I can engage in combat again.

With the special moves and such, I need to see my character.

That, and I suffer from an acute foot fetish. Thus, I am compelled to see my characters feet.

EDIT : The last bit, was a joke. But, I don't care for a strictly First Person anything. If a game isn't 3P, or give the opt for it, I don't play it. If I'm forced into an Over-The-Shoulder Camera, It's tolerated but not preferred.

Mostly first person but I'll use third person occaisionally seeing as how the game will probably be lacking on good mirrors.

1st person always. I get that some people like to be removed from their character somewhat, but I like seeing the world through their eyes. I also find things to be more scary/tense/exciting in 1st person games - I think because that warrior/zombie/whatever is coming right at my face, instead of the action being viewed through a middle man (the PC in 3rd person perspective).

I'll definitely be spending most if not all my time playing first-person. I generally find third-person only useful for viewing aesthetic changes you make to your characters appearence, you know, to make sure the changes are for the better and everything looks good and in place. I may experiment with using third-person for stealth purposes though, it could be quite useful for thievery more specifically. Being able to look around corners without actually stepping out, ect.

I use third except when talking to someone or using ranged attacks. This won't change in Skyrim.

First person melee is just not fun for me at all AND I'm really bad at it. Third person melee I really enjoy and am good at. MY wifreis just the opposite

Hats off to Bethesda for giving us both and my beloved vanity node.

i always used 1st person in Oblivion, except when i rode horses (horses in 1st person really really svcked)
so im going to do just the same in Skyrim, minus the need to switch into 3rd person :D

If the 3rd person view works as advertised and really is actually practical, I will be doing that. I prefer seeing my warrior in action, slamming into things and traversing the world. However I expect 1st person will be viewed to locate items or inspect a room in greater detail, if only the body was also displayed in 1st person view then I'd prefer that. I am no fan of the floating camera, it's something Battlefield 3 has done right.

Third person for checking my characters appearance. First person for everything else.

This. First person is what brings about the full immersion experience, but seeing as there will most likely be no mirrors in the game, I will of course take a gander at my character now and then.

3rd person i use pretty much as a vanity mode, so when i'm actually doing stuff in game i will mostly be in 1st person.
