My First Thoughts on Fallout 4 (Minor Mission Spoiler)

Hey everyone! I'm just going to do a quick sum up of my thoughts on the game and little things that bugged me about it.

So, first of all, I really love Fallout 4, it's great and I've really lost myself in it. I'm already planning out my 2nd and 3rd playthroughs when I haven't even finished my first one. I don't know how far I am through the story, the game says I've spent almost 2 days playing though.

My first complaint is how things like to fall through the floor. I'm a collector, and I like to have things on display in my Red Rocket shop. I started hoarding all the Nuka Cola Cherry and Quantum I could, dumping it all at my base to line up on shelves and put on display. To my dismay, when I went back to Red Rocket after dumping off a bunch of quantum and cherry, it was glitched into the floor and no matter how much bunny hopping and stepping on it I couldn't pick them back up. I must have lost about 5-10+ bottles so far. I've also tried putting pillows on beds only to have them fall through the map.

The only way to avoid this I know of is if you see something disappearing half-way through something, (a desk/bed/floor), DO NOT PLACE IT DOWN. Go out of build mode, pick it up, and drop it again. This should fix it, otherwise if you place it down it will simply fall through the world and it'll be lost forever for you.

Secondly, Settlements are a bit of a mess. There's no good way to tell what Settlers are currently doing if you highlight them, except running around trying to see if they're supposed to be farming, scavenging, or guarding. The game doesn't tell you how to set up supply lines but constantly mentions it, luckily I figured it out, and it's very useful.

Thirdly, I keep losing my companions! I send them back to Sanctuary, and spend 15 minutes running into every building trying to find them. I tried to fix this by sending them to Red Rocket, and then I lost them there and had Red Rocket glitch out so I now have 9% happyness there even though no one lives there!

Fourthly, this is a mission complaint (minor spoiler ahead).

On the Mission "Bunker Hill", I chose to not help the Institute, and had the Brotherhood there as well. I walked up to the Courser, figuring there would be a dialogue option to not side with him, but there wasn't. I was forced to tell him I was ready for the mission, and then instantly wasn't an ally with the Railroad anymore and failed all quests relating to them. I killed the Courser but that didn't help. I reloaded and tried again but the same thing happened. I missed out on the Railroad questline because I didn't realize doing this mission would mess up my reputation with them. I also tried to go into the town and warn people but had no option to. I guess I'll just have to work with them on a different playthrough, because I don't want to lose 24 hours of gameplay because I messed up.

I feel there should have been some kind of warning when doing that mission letting you know if you continued you would fail the Railroad's quest.

Fifthly, please fix the barter and companion inventory system! I don't know how many times I've been selling raider armor only to accidentally almost sell some power armor or my own armor I'm wearing, and then having to re-equip it. And I keep saying "Take All" from companions, only to have to give them back their gun/armor and ammo because it doesn't stay with them. Things you have equipped shouldn't show up in your inventory when selling, and pressing "Take All" shouldn't take things your companions have equipped. It's a minor thing that would save a lot of time and frustration.

Minor Little Wishes:

Being able to smoke cigarettes and have a smoking animation in 3rd person (that's something my bestfriend wants, I don't smoke in the game).

Walls with window frames for building mode.

Being able to see companions on the local map.

Being able to build working fridges or at least a fridge to store things in for settlements, more items that are already ingame added to the build options in Settlements.

Being able to paint more armor types/put your own insignia on chestpieces/shoulders for armor, (imagine a settlement where everyone wears an insignia you made! It wouldn't have to be anything too deep, just some pre-made things you can paint on your armor. :) )

More Flags for Outposts.

Being able to get Mr. Handys/Securitrons to help protect settlements if you find some non-operational ones in the wild.

I think that about wraps it up!

TL;DR Version: I love the game, but some bug fixing and minor additions could make it better.
