First time mod user having problems with TESTool 1.3

Post » Fri Nov 28, 2014 9:39 pm

Hey there,

This is my first time using mods with Morrowind and I'm having a great deal of difficulty getting started. All the websites I've visited suggest using TESTool 1.3. I have it downloaded, but when I try to execute it, an error window pops up displaying "Cannot find Morrowind installation".

I have the game downloaded through Steam and I had to change some stuff around in order for Wrye Mesh to run. Any ideas on what I need to do to remedy this situation? Thanks in advance!

Is Morrowind installed out of Program Files folder?

Is Testool installed where Morrowind.exe is?

Please clarify what it is that you're wanting to do. There may be other utilities to do the same thing. Also, if you're using Windows, the game's install location could be a problem depending upon which version of Windows you're using. IIRC, there's a thread about this elsewhere on the boards.

I cannot install TESTool. It downloaded it from the internet. It opens in 7zip when I open it. There are three files for me to choose from:

TESTool.htm

history.txt

TESTool.exe

When I try to open the .exe file, that's when the error window pops up.

I just thought of this though. Should I download the file directly into the Morrowind file path? Like I said, I use Steam. The file path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Morrowind"
