First Time Morrowind Player!

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 4:49 am

I NEVER played Morrowind. I just got the game with Tribunal and Bloodmoon. I patched it correctly. Now, I almost loaded it, then went "wait. The modding community"

This is why I am here. Where's the awesome mod compilation or steps to take to enjoy the original game, with the graphics mods and additional content of today?

Welcome! You are about to play a really great game.

http://www.mwmythicmods.com/telesphoros.htm is a pretty good resource, which lists lots of the more popular and "must haves" along with some little less known but still great mods. It also breaks everything down by category and gives brief descriptions as well. I'd highly recommend at the very least some of the unofficial patches and fixes, but other than that, it's up to your personal taste. Some prefer as pure as possible, others have gigs of mods.

Also, a general recommendation I usually see to new players is to try it at least once without mods. That said, that only really works if you are really into the game and plan to play it for a long time. If you are really just looking for a fun, but not extensive, experience, you might just want to go with a few mods right away.

I will use you list, thanks!
But first, I will try this. Finally found it. Knew I saw it somewhere on OCN a long time ago. With this mod, all I mess with is audio and graphics. No gameplay elements are changed, so it's like a patched version of the game. :D

Just remember to check the mod conflict lists of other mods that also change sounds or graphics. Usually they will list if they will conflict with other mods. Usually (not always, but usually) graphics and sounds won't create game breaking conflicts; one will simply overwrite the other. Still, this could be a problem if you don't want to lose some aspect of a mod you already have. So just keep an eye on those conflict lists. Most proper mods will have them in their readme files.

EDIT: By the way, there's a currently updated and watched thread on that Sound & Graphics overhaul a few posts below this one: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1216870-relz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics/

I would play it through without mods first.
