Go fish

Why does that bother you?

I think I know... A frying pan murdered his clan. He has sworn revenge against cooking and plans to take the Role Playing out of RPG!!!! :gun: :ninja:

Seriously, I understand why people wouldn't personally use these kind of things but... I don't ever. EVER. Use two handed weapons in games like Elder Scrolls. Does that mean they shouldn't be in the game? No.

As the title suggests I would like to be able to buy a rod and fish in rivers or from boats then sell the fish or eat them for my supper, any one else?

Fishing...hell yeah I want to fish, goes hand in hand with hunting deer and boar for the roleplayer's survival, and I have high hopes of eventually transforming my hunter/woodsman character into a master baiter as well... ...wait what...

:hehe:

What role will you play by cooking a fish? Or hunting a deer?Or creating a family? Or cutting a wood?lol
I dont care if they will put fishing in a game or not, but i really dont understand why you guys telling that cooking etc... is a part of role playing game?
RPG for me is : play a role of a hero, bandit, assassin etc...but not a role of some Chef or some Woodcutter.
Does any of the great rpgs have these professions? Deus Ex? Diablo? Dragon Age? Mass Effect? Gothic? Previous TES games? Why you are thinking that beeing able to cook is a part of RPG?

You play the role of a cook, a fisher, a miner. a smither, etc.
A Role is a role, Be it a cook or a fighter. It all belongs. Thats what makes this series so great. You play what you want to play as. Whatever that may be.

You seem to play a very superficial role...and that's fine...to each his own, but personally, I like to wander the gameworld. I don't fast travel and so when I'm out trekking across the land, or out exploring the countryside, I try and play the game in a sensible way. Call it a self-inflicted hardcoe mode. Better yet call it trying to adhere to some sense of survival realism, but more than that, I have fun hunting deer with a bow in the game and afterwards I enjoy pretending that the venison it supplied me with, was food I needed to survive. So I'm looking forward to the new cooking, the woodcutting, maybe even fishing or the ability to set up a camp and start a fire for warmth and for roasting meat.

For some of us, it's these little things that really help add to the overall depth of the immersive experience.

I would like fishing in the game, and I would want it to be somewhat fun/interesting. Fishing in Zelda was a lot of fun in my opinion and I would like to see aomething similar. Not just a dice throw when flinging the line into the water. If that is all it would end up becoming I don't think I would even want to see it in the game .

I'd rather jump in and punch the fish in the face.

I rather just cast a shock spell on the water, and watch the fishies float up.

Exactly.

And Dragon Age did have crafting (professions) in the form of herbalism/potion making, poison making, and trap making. Elder Scrolls has had Alchemy, and Enchanting. I would consider those skills to be professions. And now they are expanding upon that. Armorer has now become Smithing, which lets you craft your own gear. And they've added professions that don't require a "skill"

I think so, Id search a link but googles not loading for me atm. Its more having NPCs craft for you(I think, been a while might have changed too).

Just saying I dont think crafting or job type skills will ruin anything or make it less of an RPG. Being able to craft things in Diablo 3 wont make it any less a Diablo game.

Having 'secondary' skills like cooking or farming wont change combat, especially if theyre entirely optional. Even in a game like Fable thats based on that social stuff, you dont in any way NEED to have a job. Having a job is even redundant, the only point being to make money(which you only need for things like houses or cosmetics).

Sometimes I might want to play a more Merchant character who relies more getting others to do the muscle work. Or maybe a Huntsman. Or whatever. You get what you put into it. If you just want to be a Warrior then what youll get is a warrior, if I want to play a Warrior who likes to go fishing sometimes then Ill get a fishing warrior.

Who said anything about creating a family?

For your information I consider none of those other games great. TES is all about the world and i'll bet you pass it right up only playing the main quest and going where it takes you. Probably wish the main quest would take you every where huh? Am I right?

When I was living in Maui I was learning how to (get this) spear fish. That's right, you would grab a spear and swim out into the middle of the ocean diving and killing fish to eat! With spears!

I'd like it too. I remember having a lot of fun playing Breath of Fire 3 fishing minigame :P And probably a fishing skill (or perk, since is in fashion nowadays) would make my day!

Not thank you, it is not some medieval- life simulator,it is TES. :banghead:

TES is better than real life therefore should replicate it as much as possible.
