Fishing!

I know, I know. It's not confirmed, but check this quote of Todd Howard:
"We knew, like before, we had to start over," says Howard via Skyrim's official website. "We needed to reinvent large parts of the game and its tech. We started with the graphics renderer and how we would bring the scale of snow-covered mountains, dynamic weather systems and massive dragons to life, along with the small details of how people lived - from the forks they used to the fish they caught and the meat they cooked. We then rewrote all the major graphics and gameplay systems, including lighting, shadows, level of detail, animation, interface, scripting, dialogue, quest systems, melee, magic and more."

NPC's sometimes do things by magic that the player can't actually do. When a dev says the "fish they caught" s/he could easily be referring to the "fish they spawned into their inventory."

So... I"m not going to get my hopes up on this one. It would be nice, though. Mini-Games add a lot of character. I used to spend HOURS fishing in the Zelda games.

I doubt he meant "Fish spawn in their inventory", as NPCs have lots of actions now. I doubt it'll be that bad.

Well, they chop down and carry wood around, amongst other new things. http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy297/b_harrison/skyrim/skyrim_gameplay_village.jpg

exactly, this is why if Todd says they'll catch fish, you can probably assume that they'll actually fish or something alike.

Sure, its possible the fish just spawned in their inventory, but if they go as far as to have them cut their own wood, I would not doubt that they catch their own fish as well.

I read that same quote from todd and I believe they actually fish (mainly because I really want this feature). Since there is going to be other forms of resource gathering I believe they will actually fish. We also know that the player will be able to perform the same other resource gathering why not fishing as well? I really hope this feature is in, I can't wait to have my lake side villa so I can go out back on my dock and do some skyrimbass fishing.

We also know there's a city (forgot its name) that is located on the sea shore, and its economy (I think) should be, among other things, based on fishing.

Didn't Todd say that "if an NPC can do it, the player can too"? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part? :P

I enjoyed fishing in Fable I. So it would be welcome if it was in.

We also know that NPCs sweep the floor with a broom, I doubt we'll be able to do that... But I think we can say for about 85% that fishing is in!

See Luke's link above. It's the Riftin economy. I especially like the note about the hatchery because it will look spectacular if done right... although that may contradict the act of fishing. Why go fishing if you can just grow the fish in a hatchery?

Overall, I think fishing will be in.

not getting my hopes to high up on this, but it'd be cool to have. I spent hours fishing in games like Harvest Moon and WoW so this'd be a big thing for me.

I will catch the biggest fish around and put it in my pants.

Which reminds me, do you think that after catching a fish (if possible) its gonna get rotten after awhile? or oh oh, maybe it will flip-flap around until itll die D:

P.s I was just drinking lotz of coffee

It wouldn't surprise me; Arx Fatalis had that, and Zenimax has Arx Fatalis (Well.. the company that made it.)

*except that fishing by the PC would seem likely be boring or very unusual.

I'm pretty sure that fishing is in. I've no idea how it could be added interestingly though. You possibly just press a button and then watch your character fish, like in MMOs.

As for not being able to sweep the floor, that would be a loss only for the console players. PC players with mods can eventually do it, just like in Oblivion. It's a good roleplay thing to sweep the floor of your house. :P
