[RELz] Five Blind Mice v1.1 (Quest)

Hi,

I just installed the mod and started a new game..

I noticed that this mod conflicts with the Tutorial Dungeon after the Goblin Cave when you meet up again with the Emperor and the two Blades, the three just keep standing in the hallway without moving...

I know that this mod is causing it, I don't know why, but i thought you should know ;)

Ah, we're already aware of this problem and the fix is to be implemented in v1.2.

We just recently tracked it down (Just the last few posts before yours, in fact). I think this counts as one of the activator bugs.

Thanks for reporting it anyways.

Well the first 4 are still tagged as quest items so I had to use the move quest items mod to get rid of them. Just a suggestion:

When the demon teleports you out and gives you the varla stone couldn't you also have the ward keys removed via the quest script/stage

I haven't installed this mod because when I attempted, Bash gave me an error about scripts being compiled or something when recreating my bashed patch. Any suggestions?

Well I finally reached the final straw with the activator glitch screwing up many things in SI (the Sheogorath spells, the court healer, the dancer, summoning haskil, etc.) Any word on the update? It'd also be nice if the update included the item ID of certain reward(s) so those of us that got frustrated with the activator glitch don't have to do everything over.

Hi everyone.

So I just got the quiver and noticed Torrin was missing from his room. Now it's time to go down to the lower level for the keys but the game CTD's when trying to load the next level. I've tried all sorts of things but it always happens. I have played this for a while and I have to say it contains a fair few bugs and flaws. Some of the surfaces seemed unfinished. I am now in the initial cave complex and I need a key to enter the inner caves. There is a note saying the key is lying around but I cannot find it. I don't know if this is a bug or if I am looking in the wrong place. On a positive note I felt the voice acting was pretty well done, especially the lip-synching to the speech.

Perhaps that's the problem.....I really don't want to give up on this mod.

Hello everyone, this is FlameDragon, one of the 5BM devs. Azkon and Miyth are super busy, so I popped in to give a response to those who have bugs, issues, and concerns with our mod. Thank you again for giving Five Blind Mice a try and reporting the bugs in the game. Here is a list of responses from Azkon:

There are a few cosmetic problems with this mod but they are mostly minor and we're currently placing higher priority on the coding bugs.
It's also because everytime we try to fix these cosmetic things, the TES Editor just punches us in the face. We'll try to iron things out once we fix all the other problems.

I don't believe anyone else has been unable to find the key. It should be right next to the note.
The "Unfinished surfaces" have nothing to do with us. The Tilesets we used came with Oblivion.
It's Oblivion's fault. >_>.

Menno....that is a huge list.
I really cannot help you.
Theoretically, it SHOULD work with all other mods but that is not a 100% guarantee.
Whatever happens on loading the third level is pretty weird. I've never seen that problem before.
I also don't know what CTD and LO means, forgive me. >_<

Anything else is a known problem either to be slated for fixing in v1.2 (like the Activator glitch) or is a lower level problem (as in harder to fix) that cannot be fixed until after 1.2 (I believe the Codl problem is one of them).

As to when the release of v1.2 is is....that is unknown.

Both of our programmers are busy with RL stuff right now and really can't spare the time.

ok just so u know CTD is Crash to desktop and LO is Load Order now Menno do u have Unique Landscapes Installed ? And you should try useing http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1005780 to help u with that LO

Yes, UL is installed... ( I believe I'm using every one of them) and I use BOSS religiously. It's just that 5 blind mice is newer than the latest boss update so I have to place it manually in the load order. That's why I was wondering if any of you might have a Load order placement suggestion for it. thanks for asking, and for the responses. Much appreciated!!

well i just thnking it mite be UL thats makeing u CTD try uninstalling it and then see if u CTD the ony outher think i can think of is Streamline. this is just a guess. and try loading 5 blined mice after Blood&Mud

Don't know if someone reported this or not, but the ESP needs to be run through http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/TES4Edit_Cleaning_Guide because someone somewhere along the way hit the "compile all" button in the scripts and the mod now contains duplicates of all the vanilla scripts.

There are also an oddly high number of wild edits as well which can lead to problems because the original functions of the vanilla items will no longer behave properly.

Not only being cleaned with the autotamic process. There are like dozens, if not more scripts, activators... that are being modified and won't be deleted with the normal remove identical to master.

Yes, that's what is refereed to as "wild edits" - stuff that's edited that does not appear intentional but can't be cleaned out automatically.

This mod sounds exciting, but it is in serious need of cleaning.

There is something wrong with the "World Orphans" (new world spaces). Wrye Bash chokes when trying to Remove World Orphans and TES4EDIT complains about world orphans when trying to save after Undelete and Disable References.

There are thousands of Identical to Master records.

Several edits to Lights and some other records, some are "wild edits" others look intentional. I gave up on cleaning it myself as I don't know which ones are intentional.
Please delete the "wild" ones, and for the intentional ones make *new* records instead of modifying the vanilla ones.

I've played and beaten this mod through to the end, had minimal bugs. Not sure about this whole cleaning thing, but it worked fine for me. The final battles are great. The only main problem is that now all the iron gates I run into inside Ayleid ruins don't work, I have to console them open. Not sure what the source of that problem is.

The Ayleid gate problem is due to one of the wild edits that broke the script that runs those.

Many `stories` can be created with enough Mods and just adventuring. Quests are not always essential.

However, i want to try this one, but would like to wait until the little issues in the Readme are fixed.

This quest mod certainly seems interesting, but the little issues meantioned in the readme is completely misleading. The esp file is about the dirtiest esp file you can find. It includes a copy of every single script from Oblivion.esm, which means that every script bug fix in the UOP will be undone, and it will break any earlier-loading mod that works by modifying a script.

It also has worse problems, like removing the script from iron gate activators, thus stopping all of the game's vanilla iron gates from ever opening, or completely stopping the tutorial dungeon from working. So the mod needs a complete overhaul before its ready to be used with a normally modded game.

I'm curious, would any of the "dirt" remain after you removed the mod? I played through the quest, and kept the mod in my load order until I realized how utterly it screwed up everything in the Shivering Isles, got rid of it and all was fine. So couldn't people theoretically, play it and then get rid of it without any problems?
