Five Songs of King Wulfharth

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2011 4:54 am

"Their sorcerers lifted the mountain and threw it onto Shor, trapping him underneath Red Mountain until the end of time. They slaughtered the sons of Skyrim, but not before King Wulfharth killed King Dumalacath the Dwarf-Orc, and doomed his people. Then Vehk the Devil blasted the Ash King into Hell and it was over. Later, Kyne lifted the ashes of the ashes of Ysmir into the sky, saving him from Hell and showing her sons the color of blood when it is brought by betrayal."

Obviously Wulfharth dooming the Dwemer is propaganda (unless you get into all this crazy Wulfharth=Lorkhan-with-his-heart-being-the-tool-of-their-end stuff), but I was just wondering if there was any truth behind the Dumac/Malacath amalgamation beyond both the Dwemer and the Orsimer being enemies of the Nords.

Also:
"And the Ash King, Wulfharth, hoary Ysmir, went and made peace with the Orcs in spite of his Nordic blood, and they brought many warriors but no wizards at all. Many Nords could not bring themselves to ally with their traditional enemies, even in the face of Red Mountain. They were close to desertion. Then Wulfharth said: “Don't you see where you really are? Don't you know who Shor really is? Don't you know what this war is?” And they looked from the King to the God to the Devils and Orcs, and some knew, really knew, and they are the ones that stayed."
I don't really get this but I know that it's very significant.

The Dumac Dwarf-Orc thing is more of a "Your mama is so fat, she takes up the whole magazine!"

The faithful who knew and stayed are the living.

The suffix "malacath" may refer to an enemy, who possessed the Heart of Shor. Auriel/Trinimac betrayed Lorkhan's faith, and Trinimac was cursed for this. In a manner, Dumac betrayed the friendship of Nerevar, and he and his people became pariah from existence. He fit the Malacath archetype.

Almalexia, V'vek, and Sil were not kings, so their betrayal is different. They were ancillary characters, until their apotheosis gave them control of Nerevar's life.

Well yes, but what did they know? What was really going on? Was it some fractal-echo battle from before the Dawn Era?

Those who "really knew" knew they were together, just as Wulfharth had been brought to his Heart. That they may die, but their deaths would be celebrated in song, and they remain with the living, in loving memory.

Those who didn't know why they were there, anyone who died without a "why" for their life, died exactly so. They died graceless, and they never came back.
