five things you didn't know about Brink

Quadrillions of possibilities. You probably know that Brink sports a pretty extensive character customization system, but you probably didn't know just how extensive. Including body types and accents, there are approximately 400 quadrillion possible combinations for the appearance of your character. Well, give or take a couple billion…

BTW I consider than a insane level of customization if you get my drift. :spotted owl:

I hope the game has a recording of him saying "***hole snipers!" if you headshot him with a Long Rifle.

Or at least gives you a trophy for it.

This isn't really anything new. It's been done before, though the only example that comes to mind is of a game series that is named after a fish in the northern hemisphere.

"incorporated some unusual components into their firing sounds, including animal noises, a woman screaming, and even his own voice."
Wait... What? How does that fit into gun firing sounds? A women screaming? As gunfire? I'm so confuzzled.

Wondering the same thing. It'll be interesting to hear the finalized sounds.

The shotgun has a lions roar in it to make it sound more visceral so it could be plausible depending on the scream to add an element he thought was needed in the gunshot

Maybe the scream is an echo?

Ive been trying to tell people in other games that theres tons of customization but they never believe me.

"Violent vocalizations."
Yup.

"Foundations like The Seasteading Institute show that Ark's setting is hardly far-fetched science fiction. In fact, the only thing we "invented" for Brink was Arkoral, an eco-friendly, coral-based construction material that sequesters carbon-dioxide as it sets. Arkoral is what gives the original parts of the Ark their signature white look."
Awesome lore bit for sure. I find it interesting.

"A familiar feel."
Yup.

That's generally how audio editing works, as I understand it. If you limit yourself to only actual gunshot sounds for gunshots you don't have much to fine tune. Lots of people use various random things like laser and electrical zapping effects layered in there to get a bit more oomph. Considering there are many layers, it's not like you'll actually hear a woman screaming, animal noises, or voices (unless you're crazy) when you fire a gun...it will still sound like a gunshot.

400 quadrillion seems huge, but it's not out of the ordinary since they count each little thing you can change (including each color of clothing you can pick). Even with the 400 quadrillion possibilities I wonder how different players will actually look.

Yeah, thats why PR people love numbers like that, it doesnt take much to start getting huge numbers. Granted, the customization for Brink is still note-worthy, especially with all pre-rendered skins, but I will stick to calling it "Psudo-Unique". Most games you play, everyone will be different, but you're sure to occasionally run into people who are similar to you.

So what you're saying is you will look like 100 quadrillion other players except for different socks.
