in both morrowind and oblivion (havent played arena or daggerfall- but they are probably even worse) acrobatics controlled only jumping and falling....

yes you wouldent be able to do that in heavy armour- but a person can do that, so why not?

Maybe the ability to hold on to a ledge or climbing would be cool. Parkour style climbing might be a bit much, but I see you point.

This is elder scrolls, the devs arent putting effort into wallrunning and crap, they put into the combat systems and the creatures.

Indeed.
I want them to fix the jumping animations lol. i played Lead and Gold recently and i loved how the jumps were and when you hit the ground the char rly reacts to that.

Well, they're implementing Havok Behavior in Skyrim, so that'll probably allow for better jumping animations.

I wish they would though. It gets so repetitive doing combat all the time. There's more to CRPGs than just combat and battle.

You can climb walls in daggerfall. Not quite wall jumping, but that sort of thing wasn't really possible at the time.

I think holding onto ledges and double-jumping from high acrobatics would be nice enough. It'd also make Acrobatics a more viable combat skill.

Woah, are people really asking for double jumping, or is this a wind up? This is a terrible mechanic in any game, only just about believable with rocket boots. I can think of worse ideas, just, ( diagonal jumping in Turok ), but jumping, then jumping again, presumably off a really thick bit of air, who thought that one up?

Indeed, leave that to the platformers.

Well with skill perks there may be some minor things. Wall jumping at the most but nothing crazy.

Maybe some sort of acrobatic dodge animations at higher levels of acrobatics would be good and make the skill more viable. Like a chance to perform a swift leap away from an enemy attack or something.

Perhaps the higher your Acrobatics skill, the more "acrobatic" your jumps will look. At low level Acrobatics, you'll just get a simple jump in the air. But at a higher level, you could start doing flips and rolls and other fancy movements.

This combined with a dodge function (or maybe some acrobatic dodge perks) would make a rogue character feel a lot more distinct from a warrior. Dodge roll ;D

I am pretty sure that acrobatics is one of the skills that was cut from Skyrim. So you won't have to worry about this problem actually. Falling damage and jumping will probably be covered under athletics now.

Still think that if you don't jump much further while sprinting, this will be a massive oversight.
As long as it's only forwards, of course.

Hopefully the two skills are merged, jumping was fine in Oblivion, more so with a fortify acrobatic 100 for 5 second spell.
I would prefer to have Morrowind jumping back, so fun to go ballistic.
Totally insane, managed to overshoot city blocks in Vivec, jumped from the Televani council camber to the dock, aim for the sail and glide down to the captain.

They could take a look at what splash damage are doing with Brink which is about the most that i would want. I doubt it will happen this time but one can always hope for something in TES VI.

Not that much effort. Being an elder scrolls game means they put passable effort into everything, without particularly focusing on any one point. Always mediocre combat, magic, stealth etc but since all of its available and there is so much choice its good.

Not to the same level, but climbing and similar would be very good for stealth characters and could be a great addition to the series. Also, it's been in before, in Daggerfall.
