Fix Aiming on Consoles

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 1:40 pm

I know this wasn't a problem on the PC, but the aiming on consoles always felt wonky and sluggish. When shooting it would almost freeze and it would make it unable to correct the aiming during fire. It just felt all around poor and unresponsive like a normal FPS should. It made it to where you would have to use VATS to be efficient. I hope this is changed/fixed to have a more fluid motion of movement with aiming with the updated engine.

Anybody else feel the same way?

Just out of curiosity, what was your frame rates on your console for FO3 and/or FONV?

Not that either are suppose to be First Person Shooters, but if your frame rate drops below a certain point it is going to seem like the air is made out of syrup even if the animations are butter smooth.

Thats why I stuck with VATS in FO3 and New Vegas. Although New Vegas was improved shooting, with the iron sights on consoles. But FO3 was really hard to play as a FPS, the mechanics felt very off. So i just got used to VATS, which i thoroughly enjoy using. But if there was better FPS mechanics, I might not use VATS as much.

Hmmm, I never noticed this problem on my ancient 360. Did you have a damaged copy or something perhaps?

FPS mechanics need to be improved across all platforms.

This. It's not like the aiming on PC felt like playing Battlefield. It had weak FPS mechanics on all platforms, but on consoles the sensivity just was too weak, even on maxed out settings

It's got nothing to do with the framerate. So many FPS's on the consoles run smoothly and are 30 frames per second. It just feels like the scaling was off and it was clunky. Like if you barely moved the joystick, the screen wouldn't move, but if you moved the joystick a fraction more, then the screen would fly across at light speed. And moving up and down is so much slower than left and right.

I honestly don't know how to describe it except for "off". They need to tinker with it a bit more if they want to call it a FPS.
