FIX - Grain and Lines Bug

Post » Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:15 am

Hey fellow people abandoned and screwed by Craptek. Ive discovered a temporary fix for the grain glitch.

1) Start a campaign mission or Resume campaign
2) Hit guide button and exit to dashboard
3) CHANGE RESOLUTION (720p, 1080i, 1080p). Example, if on 720 change to 1080p or I, if on 1080p change to 720p or 1080i
4) Start a new mission (do not resume game)

This works for me and should last 2-5 missions before the grain glitch re-appears.

I've tried exiting to dashboard and starting a new mission without changing resolution and the glitch remained.

Post if it works for you.

(250 gig Slim Model, HDMI, INSTALLED)

WE WILL REMEMBER

While I appreciate you making an effort in lieu of Crytek themselves, it's not much of a fix if I have to make changes to my consoles settings for the sake of one single game in the 100-or-so I've played on it.....not to mention that the fix may only last for a couple of missions.....

Still, it's decent of you to post your findings, and I don't want you thinking that above mini-rant was directed at you. I've got a 250GB Slim as well, when I have an opportunity (probably in a few hours), I'll give this a shot and post back.

I know when I last played, I got to the start of a rainy night level (can't remember the name, second time through the game) and the glitch kicked right in, so it's as good a point to test at as any, I guess. It's actually the arrival of the glitch that made me stop that particular playthrough, in vague hopes it would be sorted before I continue (supersoldier run).

My console is currently set to 1080p and is connected via hdmi.

Ok, this did work for me.

The level was Seat Of Power, I loaded up and the glitch was still there so I dashboarded and changed my consoles resolution from 1080p to 1080i. I fired the game back up but hit 'resume' instead of selecting the mission (duh) and the glitch remained.

So I dashboarded again, changing the res from 1080i back up to 1080p - this time I chose the mission from the level select instead of resuming my save. The grain glitch was cleared and remained so for the duration of the level. I didn't play any further than that, as I didn't have time, so can't confirm how long the fix is lasting at this point.

Additional info:
250GB Slim
1080p over HDMI
Game installed to HD

Thanks, gypsygib

This works. Gotta switch your res at the dash (switch it back if you want), and choose your mission from the replay mission menu (no resume game).

Thanks OP.

No prob, it doesn't last forever though, just stops the bleeding but the wound is still there....so yeah, Crytek are still the only developers I actually want to go bankrupt.

For me, when starting a new game I would experience the grain glitch faintly at the very beginning of Seat if Power and by the time I got to that heavy rain part, the game would look like really bad cable reception. I did the temp fix for Seat of Power and it was perfect until the very end of Corporate Collapse.

I recommend just repeating the temp fix every 2-3 levels to completely avoid the horrible bug. svcks to lose the guns/c4, etc, but the game's pretty generous in that department anyways. That 's what I did (every 3 levels and for the last level) and it allowed me to at least complete Super Soldier without turning it off due to the game having the most horrendous graphics I've seen all generation.

I totally agree with you MADEWITHROBOTS, it's still svcks that people have to do this to make the game playable.

Maybe this will give them a clue....not that they give a ****.

Crytek cost me 60 bucks I'm going to do my best to cost them 6 000 000 (prob unrealistic but I'll try, I'm so pissed) - every game they release will be trashed on every major site, reviews with multiple accounts and all. I will dissuade as many people as possible to not buy Crytek ****.

FU CRYTEK YOU'RE THE BIGGEST POS DEVS EVER

CRYTEK IS EVIL

you don't have to change the resolution

simply exiting to the dashboard, ejecting the disk, restarting game, and starting a new mission will temporarily fix the bug

All of this, for one game?

Crytek really did sleep on this one.
