Fix required for graphics card being stated as Unsupportable

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 3:32 pm

Dear Sir,
I am getting a Warning message as i double click on the game icon the message is “Unsupported video card detected! Continuing to run might lead to unexpected results or crashes. Please check the manual for further information on hardware requirements.”
Where as my computer configuration is Intel Core2Due 2.0GHz, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 512MB NVIDEA 9200M GS graphics and 320GB HDD.
I have run Crysis1, Crysis Warhead, Mafia 2, GTA4, Call of Duty Black Ops and other heavy games on this config, yet it is showing this message in Crysis 2. If i ignore the message and play the game. The game runs but freezes and hangs in in between. So PLEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please dont tell me to buy a new graphics card just (only) to play Crysis 2.

Your graphics card is a mobile version, this is not recommended for Crysis 2, or any graphics intensive games, for that matter. The reason why it's hanging all the time is because it's overheating, and I'll assume you're using a laptop, which makes it worse with heat. The unsupported message is not a bug or problem, it is actually telling you the truth.

Yes you are right that I am using a laptop. I am using a hp laptop but these kind of problems never arrised when i played Crysis1, Crysis Warhead, Mafia 2, GTA4, BlackOps etc. Infact i pladed these games and they ran smooth like butter.

Why is Crysis2 creating so much trouble? Once i saw in NVIDIA inspector that my graphics card temp went up to 76degree.

In another fourm I saw one mentioning that his graphics card burned due to heat produce while playing Crysis2.

Please I want to play this game as I love its story. So help..............

You can try to set the maximum FPS number to limit GPU workload and thus reducing heat output.

In your autoexec.cfg file, add this:

sys_MaxFPS = 30

I'd be surprised if you'd be able to even get above 30fps anyways, so you can go ahead and lower it if the problem still happens.

As for the game itself telling you that it (your graphics card) is not supported, you're just going have to live with that.

LOL, even the desktop 9400GT is nothing for the game, maybe a 9600GT is fine, but let me tell you; I'm running the game in a desktop with a Core 2 Duo @2.66GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 4MB Caché; 9800GT 1GB GDDR3; 4GB dual channel 800MHz and 1TB S-ATA2 HD... and I run the game in high to prevent some casual lags online. Now tell me how you run those games in a extremely low-term mobile graphics card if even my PC lags sometimes in some specific parts of Crysis [1] campaign in high presets, AA off. Dude, you can't even buy a graphics card for your laptop that easily; even a GT 550M has less than 50% of the performance that the GTX 550Ti has, so stop spamming the forum with dumb posts. You may check out stock specs in NVIDIA web site and compare the products before saying anything.

I had a 9600 gso ddr2 version (g94 chip) which run the game on low specs, that's about the same speed as the 9400gt but I had no error messages. I upgraded to ati 5700 pcs+ which is probably the minimum requirement for higher resolutions.

To the OP though the 9200m is not suitable for any modern games these days, you probably struggle running something like MW1 on such a card.

Running crysis 1 on the thing it must be like a slideshow.

Haha Im using a 8600 GT and I get the same crashes to desktop which I can understand because according to minimum specs a 8800 GT is needed. Ill bet if youll notice 95 percent of the time when your loading a SP or MP map it'll do a deskie crash. Also if you do nothing but MP in about 3 - 4 loads IT WILL ALWAYS crash, count it, its usually always three to four loads. As I said since I know im outside of support im just happy I can play online even if I have to deal with a hack here or a crash there, I just make sure to leave server after every match and rejoin so my xp saves >.> Full patches and all btw

Dear Oozee,

I am a student in collage so its the laptop thats my friend. You asked a silly question how did you run Crysis1 and Warhead. Wellt he simple answer that I can give you is I installed the game and the game installed without any problem and installeed the patches that were release during that time and I enjoyed the full game from the first stage "DIVIDED WE FALL" to "RECONING" at the end in Crysis1 and similarely Warhead also.
So that is my concern that why a graphics card that ran Crysis and Warhead is causing problem in this version.
