FIX YOUR CONNECTION/SERVER ISSUES CRYTEK!!

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:49 am

I love this game, its one of my favorite games next to halo and gears. The multiplayer is fun WHEN IT WORKS!!!!!! Most of the time i get put in a game where EVERYONE has yellow or red bars and the game is soo laggy that hit detection and all that sweet stuff is horrible. CRYTEK FIX THE GAMES CONNECTIONS, i have none of these problems with halo or gears or even call of duty. or any other games. I want to continue playing crysis without getting into laggy ass games and rageing.

I can play :

Black Ops = Fine

Homefront = Fine

Battlefield Bad Company 2 = Fine

Halo Reach = Fine

Crysis 2 = Laggy Mess

IT IS THE SHAMBOLIC NETWORK CODING THAT CRYTEK APPARENTLY THINKS IS ACCEPTABLE.

What a joke.

Just out of interest what are people's connection speeds?

Go here & paste your results on the forum.

Your internet connection speed won't make a difference to what speed the other player has.

If you're on say, 50Mbps, and the host is only on 2Mbps, you will still only recieve one 8th of that amount due to his upload; the download is only basically how quick you can reach a peak before it drops or fluctuates.

I have this game on both PC and Xbox, it works wonderful on PC but not on Xbox. It's simply the coding used within the online multiplayer part being made SOLELY by Crytek UK.

So its the person with the **** connection thats the problem. If he had a decent upload then there wouldn't be an issue surley?

Yep, pretty much.

A major example would be like trying to get an elephant through a cat door. It won't fit, so what do you do? You put smaller parts through at a time to make sure it all gets in there. Any packet loss or data loss on the way is expected.

Xbox live is mainly made up of terrible laggy connections anyway, the guy with the bad connection (upload rate) will always have a better advantage, for the simple fact that, sure, he might not ALWAYS be able to host full games, or migrate. But, he can sure as hell recieve data JUST fine... So, the speed he recieves data and sends it back to you, it's taking too long, by the time it gets to you, you're already dead. If EVERYONE had 50Mbps, then there would be no lag at all... And even if there was, it wouldn't be noticable.

2 bars in crysis is better that 3 bars in cod. 3 bars in cod is a ping > 100 and < 200 ms. I don't know what the bars in Crysis stand for, but it sure as hell is better than cod.′They represent completely different ping ranges.

How come I can consistently get more that 15 kills and less than 5 deaths average EVERY match? Why is everyone whining about the hit detection? It works like it should. You shoot someone, he dies.

-PLEASE NOTE-
For the hit detection to work, you actually have to aim at the target and keep him in your sight as he moves. This is not CoD where the aim assist does most of the work.

Sure, there is some **** going on, but not nearly as much as in CoD.

Yep, pretty much.

Exactly, which was why I asked to see people's speeds, jitter & packet loss to see if these people complaining about lag do in fact have a **** connection. If your lagging the chances are that your either stuck with someone with a **** connection or you have a **** connection yourself, none of which you can blame Crytek for & everyone knew it was p2p. This aside, If I can play across the world on a 1 bar with no lag then so should others unless their connection svcks or they svck so they blame lag.

lets see those tests people.

Asforementioned, it is determined solely by the connection of those who are participating IN that game; I was originally at first blaming the game developers thinking it was their coding was perhaps faulty, or not up to scratch; understandable that a portion of it isn't working properly, HOWEVER does not excuse those with terrible connections.

In an earlier post I made about a week or so ago I was complaining about the ability for my connection to increase in speed due to the nature of the area I live in being preserved by "nature" and government keepers; however, recently, I was informed by a local internet provider that we CAN have Fibre Optics in this part of the town, just the cable will NOT be underground, instead will be leading via telephone pole; and apparently, have been up for years and were discharged about 5 years ago as they stopped providing fibre-optic to this region, and the better news? Virgin Media now OWN those cables, and have actually connected my network to one of those lins for a hefty £45 a month now.

Understandable, that's a lot of money, but to be honest, I don't see a huge difference in connectivity on the game then that of my previous connection of 1mb. I am now on 50Mbps, and it really makes NO difference in my own speed... if anything, I've noticed I die a LOT quicker due to my upload rate being so damn high. Fair play I recieve on average around 45-49mbps, but nothing more, and nothing less (as of yet). And I tend to keep it that way.

My connection is only affected by those with crappy connections, others who have the same connection as me, and higher work fine, and I tend to enjoy the session; in fact, a swedish friend of mine has a 1Gbps line; he pays extortion for, but I am sure as hell positive that he downloads quicker than I can say boo. So I retract all my previous comments about the online being terrible, or bad. I take those back, but it still doesn't mean I am happy.

I am still pissed @ the response level we are getting though. That hasn't made me much happier, but I am happier knowing that I can actually play the damn game with a ping below 90ms each time.

Fibre Optic (Wired)

Crysis 2 still performs like a piece of sh*te.

I also have :

Battlefield Bad Company 2 = Works fine

Halo Reach = Works fine

Black Ops = Works fine

Homefront = Works fine

Crysis 2 = Laggy Mess.

It's funny that every other game works fine except this piece of an unfinished game.

It's not connections, it's the shambolic Network Coding that Crytek use. It's not up to standard hence the 35 or so pages of complaints from hundreds of users

Snarf. Thanks

Your connection is amazing compared to mine, but I've honestly never seen lag. I don't understand why some have these problems especially with a connection as good as yours. Your connection is triple mine, but I don't have any problems at all. If it is their network code then why isnt everyone having issues with lag & hit detection? I'm just trying to understand wtf going on. Do you get frame drop lag?

Hi,

Now you can see why I'm getting angry on here. I love this game, but my main gripe is that the Network Coding is sub standard. Personally, all I want is for Crytek to fix this, Crysis 2 would be the best FPS bar none if they did.

All I know is the game and kill cam lags something chronic in a lot of games, it's not good enough. I refuse to buy the DLC until it's fixed.

I don't doubt that people have problems, but I don't doubt that some of them also have a **** connection. I've read a few post from people saying they don't have any issues, me included. Why is this? I'm baffled as to why your having the experience that you are especially with a connection like yours and people with worse connections dont have any problems.

No one take offence here i'm speaking for myself.
I blamed lag & the hit detection at first, but that was until I got better. I've not raged at this game once since I got it back, except for loosing 50k yesterday. It cant be the coding, lag or hit detection can it because myself, other forum members & the people I see in game dont have any of these issues. The only time I had these problems was when I was **** at the game.

I'm genuinely interested to see this lag. If anyone who suffers with it who wouldn't mind showing me would be great. Lag is in every game, but to the extent that people are making out, Sorry but considering how long i've played for & not seen any I don't & can't accept its that bad.

I understand why you would be pissed with having a connection as good as yours, but surely you see where i'm coming from with having a worse connection than yourself & have no problems.

the lag is fine if your playing people from your own region - the latency is fine but as soon as eg someone in the uk plays against and american the latency is 300ms+ if you have a 20Mbit connection, if the players are in the uk/europe its around 24-40 (speed test.net with other countries servers!)
This is probably the main reason why its messed up, would the pc netcode be the same as consoles and what does dedicated servers do exactly?

Its not fun to waste a mag on somebody because they died 3 seconds ago but they are still on ur screen!

did anybody ever play a match where everybody had red bars? everybody was teleporting!

Should I make a thread regarding a region filter? halo reach has one and its doing great...

Come on Crytek, the Network Coding just needs an improvement.

If you can't do anything else for us, just do that one thing.

I have to disagree. I play with people from the US all the time & can honestly say that I dont see much, if any difference. I've played with a red bar & played with people with a red bar a few times & never seen teleporting. Which why i'm baffled as to why I dont have any problems.

Maybe teleporting is a new perk that Crytek has given us for free, as a sweetener for a broken game.

well i have to disagree too, i do see much of a difference, mainly when you pick up a hmg there is a second delay - a second can be the diff between life and death...

I played a substantial amount of games last night, and the Lag due to Network Coding was imminent throughout the night.

Crytek - What's the latest on this worrying matter???

when i first started playing a few weeks ago, the lag was a joke, then, last friday, 21st may, had a late night session, UK time, where all was good, even won a game, everything was balenced and felt proper! played on sunday 22 may around 10pm time UK, and yet again it was bollox! with full armour on, im shooting a guy dead in my sights and he turns around and shoots me dead with his gun, while i was reloading after i emptied a full clip into him, and i was not missing him either!!! so i thought it was better, but maybe not, and connection on screen showed all players on 3 bars except the host who had 4. go figure. im on cable with a 10mb connection.
