FIXED 1080p 24hz issue Nvidia cards for Crysis 1,2 & Warhead

Post » Fri Sep 21, 2012 5:23 pm

1. Open Nvidia control panel and create (2) Custom resolutions

The first one is 1920 x 1080 progressive at 60 hz
The next is 1916 x 1080 progressive at 60 hz

Image

2. Select the first 1920 x 1080 p at 60 under the new custom resolution and apply

3. In Nvidia control panel, navigate to Adjust desktop size and position

Select NO Scaling option and make panel look like below, apply settings

Image

4. Launch Crysis, Crysis 2 or Crysis Warhead and under Graphics settings, select the resolution 1916x1080 and apply

5. Your screen should default to 1080p at 60 hz, you can check the info on your HDTV and it should say 1920x1080 at 60hz rather than 24hz.

There you go, no more Alt-Enter or weird DX10 hacks...enjoy this took a while to figure out and I hope it works for you too!

Or just enter the resolution in the in the system file manually. I only had the resolution issue with Warhead.

An other way to fix the problem.

https://secure.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=32846

HOW TO FIX:

Run the game and go to option > Graphics, then go on "Full Screen" change it to NO.
Restart the game and make sure DX11 is enabled (If you want DX11).

Now, as soon as the game starts and you see the creepy (but cool looking) Cryengine Logo/eye hit ALT + Enter! The games resolution will change to 1600x1200 @60Hz and then 1920x1080 @ 60Hz. This is the only fix I've found to the problem.

Thanks for the information guys. We are aware of this issue and are investigating the cause. HDMI seems to be a common element with this, as we've had reports of switching to DVI/VGA resolving the issue. We will continue to investigate and update with any progress/news.

Thanks!

This still isn't a surefire way to fix the problem because you still will be missing 2 pixels from both sides. I've tried it on CCC, and the results should be the same. Your TV will still tell you 1920x1080 because it's still displaying everything, but your GPU has cut and upscaled to still fit the 1920x1080 format.

But, if you guys want to try it on CCC:

Go to My Digital Flat Panels and then HDTV Support (Digital Flat-Panel). On the bottom list click 'Add'. Click on the right arrow once and it should make the screen width go to 1904 or any number lower than 1920. Uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio" and click okay. Click okay on the popup that you might get, then click on 'Apply' in CCC. Go to the bottom list again and scroll all the way down and you should see "1920x1080p60 (1904x1080 @ 60Hz)" click on apply format.

That's the CCC/ATi way. (Or should be. . .)

It's a HDMI cable i'm using and C2 is making my monitor run at 50MHz when it's usually at 60MHz.

True but it's not noticeable and still 1:1 ratio pixels, I'll take it over the repeated Alt-Enter anyday

IT's A V SYNC problem /bug
>>In game turn v sync on then off(i usually have in game off but nvidia control panel on) that's all you need to do, toggle it a few times and there it is, regular monitor settings.
this solution was found in one of two current threads made about this same problem on the steam forum /crysis section.
The bug makes my monitor go at 50MHz, but it's a 60MHz monitor and is always at 60MHz.

It's not a v-sync problem, it's a problem with the game itself when it use DX10/DX11. Turn off DX11 restart and you won't get forced down, but try that with DX11 enabled and you will.

I use a double DVI cable and I can't get more than 30Hz refresh rate while playing in DX11 mode. I'm playing at a 120Hz BenQ XL2410T with a Radeon HD 5870 (11.6).

once the game starts in miserable 50MHz, toggle the v sync options then Bam! 60MHz and the screen gets darker but more HD, like the blacks are black and not grey, i been doin' this tweak ALLL night, works every time, 60MHz nice dark HD game, what's wrong with that?
:D
av. 50-60FPS in SP
graphics card is OCed to the max, what's wrong with that? :P

Actually it is a V-sync issue or it is directly related to it. You can't use the alt-ent trick unless v-sync is off and i noticed that even if it is at 60hz and you still get screen tearing, just turn v-sync off and on again and it works fine. It is really an issue for Crytek to resolve since it is the only series of games in my huge collection that do this. What scares me is they didn't fix this in the first 2 games.
Is there a .ini file we can adjust?

BUMP. Important threads get buried so fast :(
While you are working on a fix for this for Crysis 2, could you pls also tell us how to fix it warhead?

I'm on a AMD/ATI 6950 and I don't want to change all settings just for those 2 games :/

In-game, go to graphics and change your v sync setting(put it on or off), then do it again until either your screen gets darker or your FPS rise, this is the v sync fix, the darkness bug can be fixed with command r_HDRLevel = 12, if that's too bright set it to 10, r_HDRLevel = 10, do this in the game.cfg then set file to 'read only'.

This thread is marked FIXED, but it's not.

To make this work, we currently have to use a dirty workaround.
And most players are not even aware this workaround exists.

The only real FIX would be a Crysis2 patch (or an NVidia/ATI driver patch, in case they are part of the problem).

This thread is way too important to just be buried and forgotten. ;-)
Please Crytek, give your customers a fix!
By the way, this issue is not restricted to Nvidia cards but also affects AMD cards.
