Lol you must not have looked into the imperial race skills, they are about the same as nord. There is nothing special about them or game breaking. You don't gain an advantage over anyone else.

Indeed. How dare they call the entire imperial race is behind a paygate when you need to pay extra to get the imperial edition to play as the imperial. Those misguided whiney cheap player who have no idea what paygate means!
I probably do, but I think everyone will get what I'm talking about anyway:)
except
1. They can be played as any alliance and the only way to do it without explorer pack.
2. Imperial Edition also enable the player to morph any item into imperial style, for free
3. And entire race no matter if its better or worse are still content that they decided to sell extra money for.
That's unfortunately exactly how most of the people think :/
As usual your responses ignore the heart of the matter and try to draw attention to a triviality. Bravo, sir, bravo.
Moving on the the more intelligent forum members... The Imperial race isn't really the issue. It's an asthetic change at most, but the racials they have create the issue. That, along with the rings of Mara, and even the treasure maps are an unethical paygate.
All people like me are saying is that it's wrong to put in the game. Even if it seems small now, it sets a precedent for the future. It opens the doors for the developers and producers to do it again and again. Thankfully the uproar is such that I doubt they'll dare to do it again.
1. Anyone who has pre-ordered the IE has the explorer pack, so this is a moot point.
2. That's a purely cosmetic change. The point is moot.
3. Again, no balance issues. Imperials aren't some kind of god-race. The point is something-that-rhymes-with-root.
Wrong. A paygate is putting content or something that gives you an otherwise unattainable advantage over other players behind a system where you have to pay extra money. Just because you refuse to believe it, doesn't make it any less true. You are wrong, and I believe you will come to regret it at some point in the future when such paygates are common place in gaming because you bent over and took it.
Well the more you know! What exactly do you call this? I'm not insulting you or anything but I just want to use the right word in the future.
So what are the advantages? You can change the look of items by morphing them, you can play as any alliance which can be done by anyone who pre orders or chooses to upgrade to the imperial edition at a later date. So no real advantage over everyone else.
What's the "unattainable advantage" offered by the IE? What content can we few, we happy few, we band of people-with-an-extra-$20-who-now-have-a-pretty-mudcrab-pet expect that you mere mortals cannot hope to taste?
Looks like you aren't reading the thread and picking and choosing which responses you want to reply to. Most convenient for you. /eyeroll
Read the thread. You'll find your asnwers.
So what you are saying is that no game should ever put exclusive content in a collectors edition? What would be the point of a collectors edition then? There is no uproar just a bunch of people crying about something they cant have for free. The imperial edition is there for anyone who wants it, there's no supply limit so everyone has the option to purchase it.
Seems a lot of people fail at reading, and just like the sound of their own voices. It's not that I can't afford the extra cash. I make an above average salary.
I can just seperate what's ethically right and wrong from my own selfishness. You and people like you simply want to pay more money in an attempt to be better than others. You're the target market. People who can't play well enough or achieve enough in the game to win it fairly.
Guys, I really hate to do this again. But it really helps if you say what kind of version you're buying or if you're even getting it. Because if you say that things should not be behind these blocks, most will just assume you're someone who is not willing to pay money for content. If a person who has gotten the IE says the things in IE should be more available, it weights more.
I've read, and I have yet to see what miraculous content I will have access to that you won't. I won't have a special zone all to myself. I won't be able to play dungeons you don't have access to. I won't have access to racial abilities that offer a substantive advantage over any other racial abilities.
What. Do. I. Get? (Aside from the ability to not be sanctimonious about video games.)
Once again you fail to understand the topic. I'm sorry this level of discussion is over your head. I really am.
Let me attempt to break it down for you. Vanity items you pay for that have ZERO impact on the game itself are fine. You can have all the pets, mounts, or even unique character models you want. But when you add things that give you a distict advantage SUCH AS experience boosters and racial skills others cannot get, then it crosses the line.
Why is that so hard for you to comprehend. Most gamers saw it immediately.
I disagree, people will call them hypocrite for buying the IE and saying it is bad.
