Fixing meshes for SSE

Post » Fri Nov 04, 2016 6:48 pm

I've seen a number of comments in regards to how to fix issues with old mod meshes from Skyrim that don't work correctly in SSE. The comments basically boil down to "you need to fix the mesh in nifskope", but none of the comments actually say how you go about doing that fix in nifskope. Does anyone have a run down?

Example mesh that doesn't work right when just dropped in: Insanitys Celtic Coin (available on Skyrim Nexus).

I have a number of my own meshes that don't work, so I'm trying to get this figured out.

I've already seen Arthmoor's posting, it doesn't help.

This is only for 3d objects correct (weapons armor wine bottles)? Not for animations and other types of forms in the mesh folder ... right?

Animations have a tool provided by Bethesda with the Creation Kit for conversion.

Yeah, as I said before that doesn't work. It doesn't work on the leather armour with pants, and it doesn't apply to items like the coins. Also neither of the meshes that aren't working right that I tried it on where using strips.

Those instructions are only for "skinned" meshes. Static meshes should work fine, however, using Skyrim made meshes in Skyrim Special Edition is a 'use at your own discretion' deal. Not everything is going to work properly without some modifications.

The coins in question here were not made properly to begin with, hence why they won't work in SE. I'm not going to explain in public how to fix them. It's up to InsanitySorrow to fix his mods and/or convert them if he wants.

I'm not trying to convert his mods, I'm trying to fix my personal works by using openly accessible examples. His mod just seemed like the most simple example of a mod that is having the exact same problems I am with some of my own meshes.

So basically you are going to hold back on information that can help people with their own works, why?
