Fixing Nevena's Twin Lamps & Slave Hunters

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 8:09 am

I've recently re-installed all my favourite mods, and I've been having CTDs when my save games load. Wyre Mash say they're clean, but they still crashed.

Then I unchecked Nevena's Twin Lamps & Slave Hunters, and the Rise of House Telvanni compatibility and my save games load fine. One of these two (if not both) obviously needs some cleaning. Does anyone know what? TL&SH has been around for a while, I wondered if this has already been found.

Twin Lamps and Slave Hunters is very unclean. I noticed this years ago when I was checking for compatibility with one of my projects. I advised Nevena at the time, but my report was met with (what could only could be politely called as) indifference.

It should be easy enough to clean it. What's wrong with it? GMSTs? Bad entry points? Broken filters?

I do not remember if there was an issue with game settings. It was seven/eight years ago and I did not examine the mod in depth. I learned enough to determine it would conflict with my mod, and I noticed that many official objects (potions, miscellaneous items, etc.) were flagged as changed - too many (I thought at the time) to be deliberate changes. There may be some legitimate changes (beyond the obvious official slave script), but I did not know the mod well enough or study it closely to know which changes should be cleaned. Since it was not a mod I would ever play I did not have any reason to investigate the issue further.

Edit: typo

Huh. Yeah, a more indepth examination would be needed to find out why those items were flagged as changed and remove those flags if they weren't supposed to be changed. I just started a new game and depending on what the mod does, I might take a look at it. I'll need a link though.

Fair enough. I tried clearing references to the dirty cells that i found, and this crashes the game as is. I might take the time to go through the whole thing at some point (I need to learn more about mods in general actually, I might want to make a few of my own) but not for a while.

edit have just tried the cleaned twin lamps + ROHT and the ROHT compatibility + Uvireths legacy in a new game without any other mods and they appear to be working ok

Have you tried updating the masters lists using wrye mash on your save games ?

Thanks for the cleaned version! Will let you know how it goes.

I've not knowingly altered the masters list, how's it done on Wrye Mash? Sorry, not used it for much apart from reordering mods and cleaning saves.
