Fixing the Crysis 8x8 Map Bug

Post » Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:37 pm

To Crytek - Are you guys ever going to go in and fix the map bug which keeps us from making maps that are over 8 x 8 km? It keeps us from making any real mods that involve flight and vehicle simulation. Since I can't make any real maps, I've since left for ArmA OA. I'd like to come back to Crysis for the nice graphics, but the maps are puny. Please fix it. And please don't say you are going to fix it in C2, because we all know that game is just a console port and a joke.

My guess is that it will be fixed for the CryEngine 3, if Crytek wants to develop bigger maps they would have to fix it, also with them supporting more licensed companies now, they will probably fix the 8x8Km bug.

Stop being so negative mate.

I could easily make big maps, only thing was it was slow when I ever loaded it up via the map editor

CE3 and most likely Crysis 2 will have this fixed. And note: This game isn't a console port.

No, you can't make maps bigger than 8x8, they will crash the moment you try walk outside of that inner 8x8 grid. As for a console port, Crytek has done nothing to make me think otherwise. So Crytek, before you leave off for console land, please do us PC types one last favor and fix the CE2 map bug.

well, planet calypso uses cryengine 2, and the entire world is one big map. It's defiantly possible, but they might have some in-house patch to make it work.

I love the combination of assumptions that A: they hate PC players, and B: are giving us a console port in an eager plea for money

specifically when you throw in the request for time and money to go to a PC feature by someone who doesn't seem interested in giving them any money for the next game.

Well, you got me there Jingle. I really don't see any PC players buying this next Crysis. I mean, why would they? They already have Wars, which looks much better. And I've seen up to 60 players on MP maps in Wars. C2 is going to have a max of 12. FAIL. So yeah, I'd like them to give us what they promised us in CE2 in the first place. And this request has been posted before, but Crytek seems to avoid it like the plague. I doubt I will ever get an answer from them.

Thanks for replying Shinanigans, but its really not modding, its a well known bug in the engine. I'm hoping Crytek will finally fix it before you move on to CE3. CE2 is a great engine, it just has that one killer bug that keeps us from making large maps like in ArmA.

If it doesn't concern Crysis the game then it doesn't belong here. It is modding related because Crytek don't make 8x8km maps for Crysis the game, modders do.
