Flags?

Does the different provinces have flags or similar stuff?
I know that Cyrodiil has the Empire-symbol, but what about the other provinces?

i dont think weve ever been shown any. the Redguards have forbear and crown symbols, as well as symbols for each city. Highrock and Cyrodiil also have city flags. I'm going to assume that provinces as a whole dont have any insignia.

State/country flags are a pretty recent invention afaik, before that each tribe/city/family had their own insignia.

Well, I?m gonna stick with Morrowind since it is the province that we have more information on.

I recall each Great House had its own banner. Maybe there?s no "Morrowind flag" because Resdayn is no more, so there?s no true sense of unity among the dunmer except for their common devotion and faith on the Tribunal (prior to their downfall I mean).

Wasn?t there a simbol to represent the Tribunal? Maybe it could have served the purpose of being a icon to represent the nation of Morrowind as a hole

And the Imperials/Cyrodiils probably would have Akatosh as a symbol (like on the coin you get from the CE Oblivion) as well as the symbol of Akatosh you see in Morrowind.

From Oblivion, one can tell that the coats-of-arms of the major cities of Cyrodiil are, using heraldry terminology if anyone understands that:

Anvil: Gules, ten lozenges (five and five) sable.
Bravil: (Or? Gules? Sable?), an orle (Sable? Vert?), a stag standant reguardant or.
Bruma: Or, an eagle sable.
Cheydinhal: (Or? Gules?), a bordure vert, a (Fret?) vert.
Chorrol: Azure, a tree argent.
Imperial City: Gules, a bordure or, a dragon (no heraldic attitude looks like it) sable.
Kvatch: Purpure, pallets argent, a wolf guardant sable.
Leyawiin: Vert, a horse (Rampant? Sejant?) argent.
Skingrad: Sable, a crescent gules, in pale a crescent argent.

Yes, I can read coats-of-arms. :) The main problem with these is that there's no heraldic tincture for brown.

Anybody want to translate that into post-modern English?

All right, for the heraldry-impaired:

Anvil: Red background, ten black diamonds in two rows of five.
Bravil: Brown background, brown box around a gold stag in a standing pose.
Bruma: Gold background, black eagle.
Cheydinhal: Brown background, green border, green pattern.
Chorrol: Blue background, white tree.
Imperial City: Red background, gold border, black dragon.
Kvatch: Purple background, white bars around edges, black wolf's head.
Leyawiin: Green background, white rearing horse.
Skingrad: Black background, red crescent, white crescent on right side.

But seriously, you guys should learn heraldry...it's fascinating stuff. If it helps, I made http://www.wikihow.com/Read-Heraldry

A thesaurus or dictionary would've done the job. *shrugs*

They're just words.
